Do you have PathPlayer enabled?

I have never used the split mode so not really sure what the heck I'm doing, but right now I'm backing up "The Abyss" using the split mode...have not changed any settings just using the default settings.
according to the info I saw at start Disc 1 will or should have Chapters 1-31 and Disc 2 will or should have chapters 32-55 with jump to the split chapter at least I think thats what it said,..BUT like I said never did this before and just doing this to help you out.
I will post back when it is done and I test it in the standalone player

Hi - yes - it should work with or without, shouldn't it? I believe I have tried it both ways.

Split rip to HD folders, & then burn the 2 discs using Full Disc, RitekF1, 8X, VSO engine, PP enabled, Preserve Menus, Jump To Split Title on Disc 2. Burned disc1 in LITE-ON DVDRW SHM-165P6S MS0P burned disc2 in LITE-ON DVDRW LH-20A1P KL0N.

Disc1 - disc played through all the previews just fine (except FBI warnings could not be skipped) and when i got to the main menu, the movie played.

Audiovox PVD73 Portable DVD Player - no info found online

Disc1 - disc played through all the previews just fine (was able to skip FBI warnings) and when they got to the main menu, the movie played.

Not sure but i do know if you have PP enabled Clone mode gets screwy

Out of all the things i have tried PP and Clone mode do not like each other on my machine oh well i'm still happy with Fab Plat

ive had to disable pathplayer just to get certain disc to open. also have had trouble with pathplayer displaying correct titles and file sizes.

I don't use Clone, as I like the flexibility to remove languages that I don't need, etc., in Customize, so I don't know about PP there, but I personally haven't had any problems with PP in other modes, except with some older discs (not older as in scratched - these were new discs in great shape - older as in made in the '90's) - I also had to disable PP in order to open the source disc.

But the authors have acknowledged issues with PP that are listed as fixed in the latest release.

(BTW, this isn't really off topic, as we were trying to determine if PP could be causing any problems with the Split issue.)

OK here is my findings on doing a Split using "The Abyss"
Like I said this is my first Split ever
using DVDFab Platinum 4.1.1.0
All settings was default settings...no changes made
PathPlayer...disabled(per my choice always is)
Burn Engine...ImgBurn
Write speed set at 8x in DVDFab...ImgBurn wrote at 4x
Media used....Verbatim 8x DVD+R

After DVDFab copyed to HDD ImgBurn poped up burned Disc 1 then burned Disc two

Playback in standalone resaults
Disc 1 still had FBI warning and all other jink menu worked ok movie started no problems to report
Disc 2 also had FBI warnings and the other junk as well..BUT after pushing play got a blue screen with DVDFab LOGO asking for "Disc 1" so I went to get disc 1 from my computer roombut by the time I got back(maybe 5-10 sec) it already started playing disc 2 also with no problems

all-in-all the split mode used by a none split mode user does work

If you are having the trouble I would say to do a Clean uninstall using the guide in my signature,...if you have set a profile settings to use when using the split mode make sure you delete that profile when doing the clean uninstall .
in the guide it states to download a new install package make sure you do that

yeah Tim you can get rid of that Fab logo screen on disc 2 in Common Settings > Split and change CGP to blank screen.

Now if a few other members would like to give it a try.........the more the better.

Just did it to help a fellow member,...will most likely throw the 2 disc away (split disc's just not my thing and will never use them)..course they would come in handy when having coffee

actually i had lots of problems and different behaviors from each player cant say if it were because of pathplayer or not, as Stormjumper has pathplayer disabled and also had this same experience.

Troy - thanks so much for testing & for all the detailed info!

So glad to see that you are having the same problem with at least one standalone player - this means that there is *not* something wrong at my end - it's the program.

(BTW, I've tried numerous standalone players belonging to friends/relatives - same thing - loops back to menu, won't play movie. One was a Magnavox, but the others weren't, so it's not an issue with Magnavox players only.)

but like Bob said can get rid of that screen all together

actually Bob I was told to insert disc2, and this was Disc2.

so if i were using a blank screen i would have had to wait 10 sec watching a blank screen.

yeah, just wanted to point out that the CGP screen was displayed at the incorrect time.

As you can see, even though it worked OK for you, Troy had the looping back the main menu problem with one of his players.

Sorry you wasted a couple of discs - as I said, folks can use RW's to test so as not to waste discs - maybe you didn't have any RW's.

Surprised that more folks don't use Split - I want good quality (no compression) & I don't trust DL discs - not only are they expensive, but will they last as long????

(But as I said, Customize works just fine to split, so we don't really need the Split mode, but I'm just surprised that more folks don't use some method of splitting.)

Weeellll, I am really beginning to suspect that the problem has more to do with the player than DVDFab split mode. I have 2 different players and one of the works absolutely flawlessly and the other one does not.

My Panasonic DVD Home Theater Sound System (SA-HT930) loops to the main menu and never plays the movie at all on either disk, also when trying to look at the bonus stuff (this was Spider-man 2 R1) the bloopers would not play either it just kept going to the next menu item, which played fine.

On my Durabrand DVD-1002 (it is a real cheapie from wal-mart cost me 19.95 on sale) works absolutely correct in all respects, everything plays on the 1st disk correctly including all of the bonus materials, the 2nd disk jumps directly to the main movie just like it should.

By the way I did select remove remove annoying PGC's but they were actually left in the movie. It seems kind of sporadic on removing the annoying PGC's from movies for some reason. I have noticed that a lot on just doing the main movie. Which is what I normally do.
