Thanks fengtao!

I uninstalled v5.0.2, then cleaned the registry with ccleaner, restarted and installed the "new" 5.0.2.0 - it works perfectly now!

What was the problem?

If I am reading you right, If I use the "write data" option to go from HDD to DVD, it will burn at a faster speed, than using "Full disk" option?

Re: spilt problem

It will start burning instantly. Full Disc process all the files again and then starts burning. The burn itself will be at the speed you have set in Common Settings. Write Data just skips the copying phase (Task 1of2) and goes straight to burning (Task 2of2). Save the bowing down for Fengtao and Ting.

"avangate 689" is not the build number, it's the name of a company who works with fengtao

I tried the data burn from HDD to DVD and it was really fast. I had read the tutorials about data burn in the past and I guess that I did not understand it enough to think it would be able to burn movie data.

Same with the tutorial for merge. I have to study the tutorial harder and play around !!

PS: the customized split tutorial confused me a little too.

Re: spilt problem

In general I think DVD Fab is great and just want to say thank you. But this week I have also been very frustrated because I couldn't get Split to work. Kept getting error 300 also.

Now I have downloaded latest version again. Hope it works.

Earlier today I also downloaded this version (the latest one). The CGP was set as DVD Fab and split process was complete it told me to insert compatible media and to insert DL media! I kept trying to put single layer and it wouldn't accept it. but I checked the Disc 1 and Disc 2 folders in the Temp--> Split folder and each were under 4.2 GB.

I tried using DVD Fab to open Temp Disc 1 folder to burn that way, but the size of the folder according to DVD Fab was the same as original disc so of course I had no luck burning it to DVD-5. (but My computer said it was 4.1 GB)

I also tried using this Temp Disc 1 folder to burn a data disc with Roxio, but the resulting DVD won't play in PC nor DVD-player. Same is true when I tried burning temp disc 1 using Img Burn.

So does that mean the split function wasn't carried out fully? Even though the log in DVD Fab said that it was?

Thanks a lot. Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

Re: spilt problem

the whole point of split function is to burn to DVD-5 isn't it? so why would it ask me to put double layer and not move on?

Re: spilt problem

Split mode should always default to DVD-5 size. If it does not, or if the output files are larger than what you have set for the default DVD-5 size, something is still wrong with this feature. See if the folders will burn using Write Data mode. If the files are 4300MB and Write Data asks for DL media, the files may be formatted as DVD-9 size even though they are not. Possible bug. I have not tested 5.0.2.0 for Split or Customize Split yet.

Re: spilt problem

I have had this problem since the error=300 was fixed. I have to cancel the split operation because it insists I insert a DL disk. The Disk1 and Disk2 folders stay in the temp/split folder. I can do a copy data of these folders to disks and they work fine. It looks like it is a bug.

Sorry I meant Write Data, not copy data.

Re: spilt problem

I just tried to do Write data with the disc 1 folder in the Temp Split folder and it said process failed.

Is it not possible to write the data in temp folder with other programs? Last time I tried Roxio and ImgBurn and the disc wouldn't play. Thanks a lot for the help.

If the temp files and their structure are not corrupt, they should burn with anything capable of burning DVD Video (Nero, Img, Roxio etc.)

Re: spilt problem

Thank you. Is there a good way of seeing whether the temp folder is corrupt or not? Or maybe "previewing" the video in the disc 1 and disc 2 folders? Anyways thanks a lot. I did split process again just now and it completed (hooray! no error 300) but I got the same message telling me to use DL instead of single layer. So couldn't complete burning using split function.

I am doing write data now and it's going. will be back on whether the disc plays or not.

Last time the disc didn't play. How can I know if the temp folder is 100% ready to burn. Last time "split process was completed" had already showed up in the DVD Fab log.

Re: spilt problem

Does the "finalize" part of write data really finalize the disc? I am using a RW but will that make my disc non-erasable?

See it as the media is told to not allowing any more data to be added, in no way it will prevent you from over-writing the media again.

Re: spilt problem

You can play the temp files with WinDVD, PowerDVD or (free) VLC Media Player. WinDVD and VLC will also play the VOB files without reading the IFO files (not sure about PowerDVD).

Re: spilt problem

Thank you! When I play things with VLC there is no sound...is that normal? Still having probs with DVD Fab split so I used your method of doing Write Disc. The first disc seemed OK. Didn't play on the computer but was fine on the TV. The second disc didn't work at all. It stopped working in the first 3 minutes, and the same is true on the PC. I also couldn't get it to play on VLC.

Do you think something was wrong with the split function? Even though it said process was complete...I don't think anything is wrong with my original DVD on my hard drive. I made a successful main movie DVD using it. It's just that the quality was very low so I wanted to use split.

Thanks a lot. Do you think the split function might be fixed some time in the near future?

Re: spilt problem

If I click each VOB with VLC and it runs, does that mean the disc will work? When I open each VOB on my defective disk (burned from Temp Split Disc 2 folder) using VLC, they run fine, but with no sound. However, when I try to play the DVD normally from the beginning screen shuts down in less than 3 minutes. Same is true on the TV. Is there a more reliable way of checking to see if the Temp Split folder is OK or not? Thank you.

Re: spilt problem

I am also having a "split problem" with the 5.0.2.0 version. When the writing task has been completed, for some strange reason it keeps defaulting to and asking me for a dual layer disk to write to. I did not have this problem with version 4.1.2.0.

Will there be a fix for this problem soon?

Thanks in advance.
