| Re: rush hour 3 DVD Decypter errors while trying to read the VOBs on the disk. Within a few seconds after inserting disc. Usually if this happens, ripit4me will always burn it. BUT...... RipIt4Me also crashes while trying to read VOB 6. I attached the output log from RipIt4Me. Has anyone figured out a fix for this yet? |

| Re: rush hour 3 Hi guys, I too was unable to backup my copy of Rush Hour 3. When looking at the disc in Windows Explorer I quickly located the problem! There appear to be 2 IFO files with the same name, VTS_09_0.IFO The 1st file seems to be 6 KB in size and the 2nd file1,048,000 KB in size. They look like this on the disc: VTS_09_0.IFO 6 KB VTS_09_0.IFO 1,048,000 KB Somehow these 2 files are connected in such a way that Windows treats them as a single file. They cannot be copied exactly as they appear on the disc. We need some real smarts to figure this one out! |

| Re: rush hour 3 Used 4.0.1.2 DVDFab Platinum to backup R1 Rush Hour 3 I got for Christmas and completed without a problem. Haven't watched the whole thing but the backup copy loaded and started just fine. Read from Sony DVD DW-D22A and burned to Optiarc DVD AD-7170A if that matters. The Inter-whatever player started after I inserted the original DVD but I closed it then opened Fab. |

| Re: rush hour 3 Anyone still having problems, Fengtao has just released DVDfab 4.0.3.0. This is a regular release, not a beta. Rush Hour 3 is mentioned in the release notes.

| Re: rush hour 3 This movie has introduced some very interesting developments in copy-protection. When viewed in Windows Explorer there are anomalies in the File structure. My copy seemed to contain 2 IFO Files with the same name (other people seem to be reporting different anomalies). VTS_09_0.IFO 16 KB VTS_09_0.IFO 1,048,000 KB I was experimenting with the IFO Files and when I tried to copy the 1st one to an empty Folder on my Hard drive I got a message saying "This folder already contains a File with that name". I canceled the copying and was surprised to find a copy of the 1st one on the Drive. Odd! I deleted that File and tried to copy the 2nd one to the Drive. Same Message and same Result. Odd! Next I deleted the File again and tried to copy both Files to the Drive. Same Message same Result. Somehow these 2 files seem to be connected as if they are 1 file. Or perhaps they are only one File and Windows has been tricked into thinking it is 2 Files. I just don't know! Although I was able to make a backup copy of the Movie, thanks to the new Beta version of DVDFab HD Decrypter, I still want to know whats going on with this Movie's Files. Any smart people out there who can explain it? |

| Re: rush hour 3 @CitizenOlek The filesystems have been corrupted - and this is not against the DVD spec, believe it or not! (although at first I thought it was). You have observed the corruption with duplicate (and even triplicate!) filenames, each having different starting sectors and file sizes, wacky sized IFOs etc etc etc. What the studio has done is make a DVD that they figure a standalone DVD player can play. This is disgraceful, for many people wish simply to play their DVDs on their PCs (and not decrypt them), and this corruption makes it difficult, if not impossible. Moreover, companies who have made software players (and have paid the DVD Copy Control Association a fee to decrypt DVDs) are out in the cold, since their customers are having trouble playing original DVDs on well recognised players such as PowerDVD and Ner0 Showtime, to name but two. Now, standalone players are dumb - really dumb. They don't look at filesizes or starting sectors, except for one file (which is always intact) - VIDEO_TS.IFO. In this file, are pointers to the starting sectors of other important files, like the other IFOs and the VOBs. These - and only these - are the pointers which are important, for a standalone player uses these pointers to find the data, and not the filesystems. In fact, you can construct a DVD with NO filenames at all in the filesystem, other than VIDEO_TS.IFO, and a standalone player will happily play the DVD. Hope this clears the air a bit on this rubbish. It's not really hard to decipher, if you have a few minutes and load VIDEO_TS.IFO into IfoEdit and look at the PTT_SRPT table. From there, you can see all the titleset starting sectors and you'll be able to sniff further. Regards
