Me three. My daughter tried to rip something for her iPod today, and asked me for help when it wouldn't work. I've tried 4.1.2.0 on two different machines and they both do the same thing.... "Process completed successfully" straight away.

I've re-downloaded 4.1.2.0 and done a clean re-install, but it didn't make any difference.

I found a thread which mentioned a similar problem, where the antivirus software was preventing DVDFab Platinum from accessing the registry. So I tried temporarily disabling my antivirus software, but that didn't make any difference either.

So now I'd like to try 4.1.0.2 (Platinum) if I can get a copy of it, as I'm pretty sure that's what was last used to do a successful iPod rip. (I've just been going along with the automatic updates.)

FWIW, attempting to use 4.1.2.0 to rip to any mobile format goes straight to "Process completed successfully", but normal DVD options seem to be OK.

(In hindsight, I wish I'd kept a copy of whichever version of Platinum that I started with. It was 4.something, but older than 4.1.0.2.)

Colin

EDIT: I found a copy of 4.1.0.2, but it didn't solve the problem. So I'm back to beating my head against the wall.

PM me which version you want to try and your email address and I'll send it to you.

Unfortunately I don't think that any previous version is going to make a difference. I've since tried 4.0.5.5 (on yet another machine) and it does the same thing. So now I'm thinking that the cause might be related to something else which is updated on a regular basis, eg; antivirus, anti-spyware, Windows updates, etc.

Unless someone happens to come along with the magic answer (and I've yet to find one on the forum, but I'm still looking), it's going to take me a lot of trial and error (and time) to sort it out. Until then, I'm just using SUPER in the background right now to do this particular conversion.

(I can cope with having to use multiple programs to achieve the desired end, but I bought DVDFab Platinum to simplify the process for other family members.)

Re: Previous versions of DVDFab????

Hi Colin,

Don't give up hope. I had the same problem (new version of DVDFab Platinum was unable to rip to iPod) and I was finally able to re-install the previous version and now it works fine again. I'm hoping that a future update will correct whatever the problem is with 4.1.2.0. In the meantime I'm using the previous version and just clicking "no" everytime a prompt box asks if I want to download the latest version.

In my case, re-installing the previous version didn't solve the problem. I've since completely wiped another machine (one of my notebooks), and I'm re-installing everything from scratch, re-checking DVD Fab's functionality after I install something else. So far, so good, but I'm far from finished.

Re: Previous versions of DVDFab????

Sorry, I didn't realise that it was a cracked version. I simply did a Google search for DVDFab Platinum 4.1.0.2 and that's what came up.

No problem, you were only trying to help...afterall, we all make mistakes.
An FYI, folks should only download from Fengtao's download site:

http://www.dvdfab.com/download.htm

For past versions no longer available, best to pm a cdf member who is willing to help out...such as GregiBoy, StormJumper or myself, for starters...
