I'm evaluating DVDFab 3.0.7.0 Platinum but the video preview doesn't work under Vista RTM! It's just black, no video and no audio.

Does nobody else care about this? For me this seems like a serious problem...

If my old memory is working right I think the video preview window only works in the main movie mode only and when you start to copy it quits, it's not like some other program where the video preview keeps working while burning. But I am sure Maineman or Signals will steer you right on this if I am wrong

"Preview" does not currently provide audio with any OS. Sorry this is not working for you. I think you can understand that a bug in what is a really a convenience feature does not engender the user concern or forum responses that a problem with DVDFab's core functions under XP might bring. I suspect most users are still on XP and so have no way to try and duplicate what you are seeing or help you troubleshoot it. My son has Vista Ultimate on his notebook and has reported no problems with Fab.

/EDIT/ Preview is available in any mode in which titles can be selected: Main Movie, Split and Customize. Hi j

I'm having the same problem with Vista and the preview function from the copy Main movie function.

Did you purposely make your user name your e-mail address or was that a mistake. This was not a wise decision as you may be spammed by other users. I am telling you this for future referrence, if this was your decision it is fine.

Disagree with Jaminsd on this, it should work in main movie and customize, which it doesn't with my Vista Home Premium. It is badly needed in customize, or I won't know what I am cutting out. This is using 3.0.7.2 or 3.0.7.5.

I just found out that when I move the DVDFab window constantly, the preview is working, but as soon as I keep the window still, it freezes again. This is clearly a bug of DVDFab! Something with the refresh of the overlay surface is wrong, but I guess nobody cares and so the problem will not be fixed. This bug has been reported several times by different users but nothing has happened so far!

Furthermore, DVDFab should not use the overlay surface for the preview, as it is incompatible with Aero! Switching to DirectX will not only make it compatible, but also fix the problem with the preview not working on many Vista systems.

Absolutely agree with you, strachan. I also have Vista Home Premium, and it is essential to see the preview in order to customize a disk. I am using 3.0.8.0, and I get no preview--just a black screen where the preview should be. I tried moving the window as mentioned in the previous post, which only works on 16:9, but not on 4:3 material. Some of the 4:3 material is apparently the bonus features and not previews, because the last disk I burned I got the previews, but not some of the bonus features.

If this isn't fixed, it will be difficult to cut all the previews, which is the major reason I customize and burn disks at all.

Preview worked perfectly under Windows XP, but it will not work properly with Vista Home Premium.

Same problem here. I have been using Vista since the RTM was released in Mid November hoping that every new release of DVDFab since then would fix the problem.

I to have posted about this in the past with no response from DVDFab. I currently have to burn a full iso to remove the encryption, then open dvdshrink, write down the title numbers, rerun dvdfab and mark the titles I want and reburn to dvd. Its alot of extra work!

DVDFab Platinum 3.0.8.0 video preview is playing fine for me on Windows Vista Ultimate after doing the following. Turn off user account control and change color scheme to Windows Basic if you've enabled Aero. Windows should change the scheme itself, but sometimes it fails to do so.

First the bad news--I changed the color scheme, trying all of them--Windows Aero, Windows Vista Basic, Windows Standard, and Windows Classic--and the preview pane was just the same. The preview worked on 16:9 content but only if you jiggled the entire window, and there was no preview with 4:3 content, even when I moved the window.

The good news is--I downloaded the update to version 3.0.8.6--and now the preview works for everything!
