Re: Poseidon DVD

Here is an interesting note:
I have now used the old Faithfull DVD Decrypter to copy the Poseidon files to a folder and now using DVDFab Beta 3 to do movie only.
It is looking like it will work.

Re: Poseidon DVD

I just bought this movie this morning. I had no problems with AnyDVD and CloneDVD2, also with DVDFabExpress in full disc mode, no problems. What kind of problems are you having. It would be helpful if you included some information like the burner, firmware, media, etc. Are you recieving a Cyclic Redundancy error? Maybe you have a bad source disc? Look for scratches or dirt on the disc. Try movie only. Let us know.

Re: Poseidon DVD

Ditto here re: clone attempt with DVDFab Platinum 3 Beta2 to a verbatim DL +R (MKM 001). I thought it was ok...the disc menu seemed intact, as well as the special features (which, btw, I couldn't care less about).
Oddly, the movie itself started ok and played through the "This film has been modified...". After 7-8 seconds, suddenly had no picture and the player's counter - fast forwarded to the end, took approximately 15 seconds.

Same thing when viewed with nero showtime and power dvd, both off a Benq 1655 (writer) and a Liteon 165H6S (reader).

I haven't had a chance to do much else, but dvdd is definitely on my to do list for testing the Fab 3 Beta.

@alan,
Will include pertinent details later on - tonight or tomorrow, sorry gotta run.

Re: Poseidon DVD

Ok, Poseidon has been one, big pain-in-the-butt, for me.

Full screen version, R1.
Read: Liteon SHM-165H6S - latest official Liteon firmware (HS0D)
Write: Benq 1655 - official Benq firmware (BCGB)

Failures:
DVDFab Platinum 3 Beta2 (2006/08/15)
Includes full disc, main movie and clone.
Platinum express, complete disc, v. 2.9.8.3 and 2.9.8.5 Beta3, both DL and SL.
Dvdd in combo with Any DVD - v. 6.0.5.0 (I thought this was very odd).

Ran all Fab tests with and without AnyDVD - all failures. All rips (except Fab 3 without AnyDVD) and burns state copy was successful. Fab 3 fails to open the disc without AnyDVD enabled. Also, Fab 3 always shows no compression (100%), no matter what mode or target size...very strange.
Here's what's interesting, as I said in post #5, "......the disc menu seemed intact, as well as the special features (which, btw, I couldn't care less about).
Oddly, the movie itself started ok and played through the "This film has been modified...". After 7-8 seconds, suddenly had no picture and the player's counter - fast forwarded to the end, took approximately 15 seconds..."

The files off the hdd seem to be intact, as do the burned files when viewed off the bkup disc. I've attempted to play the DL bkup with 4 dvd players including a Liteon 5005 standalone...no dice, all reproduce the fast forward thing.
Interestingly, I'm able to open the Video_ TS.IFO and play play the movie, both from the hdd and via the burners from the DL bkup.

Here's what has been successful thus far, here, I mean the bkup disc plays ok.
Platinum express v. 2.9.8.3, main movie.
Shrink with AnyDVD, burned ISO with Img.
Also ripped with Nero recode2 v. 2.2.6.17 and AnyDVD (DL target - 5.41 GB file size), did not burn it yet, however.

I've also uninstalled and reinstalled Fab 3 as well as platinum, ran a reg cleaner too.
Here's some detail as to the bkup disc.
I'm sure there are details I've forgotten...but "stream of consciousness" is a bitch when you're 57 years old...

Re: Poseidon DVD

Tom, my exp with 3beta 2 and this flick - basically it for whatever reason, doesn't copy much. Tell tale, if you are in main move, you cannot get the preview to play anything....like you said, 100% no matter what, cuz, its not really processing much. Also like you said, 2983 main move, no problem, although did have anydvd 6.5 in background....first huge bump with the otherwise capable new product!

Re: Poseidon DVD

I have tried using DVDFab 2.9.8.5 Beta3 and DVDFab 3.0.0.1Beta, both will not finish disk analyzing. It gets caught in a loop. I'm getting ready to try DVDFab Decrypter to get it to hard disk, and use DVDFab 3 Beta to burn.

Re: Poseidon DVD

The only way I could get a sucessful burn was to use DVD43 and shrink to rip to HD. Then used DVDFab 3.0.0.1Beta to burn.

Re: Poseidon DVD

Backed up the entire Poseidon disk using ANYDVD 6.0.5.0 and the latest version of 1 Click DVD - no problems at all. Watched the copy several times now as well as the extras.

Re: Poseidon DVD

My copy (R1,NTSC,Widescreen) only has CSS so even old school DVDShrink or DVDDecrypter will do. Maybe a faulty disc you have?
