* Bit Rate, tried at 768, 1536, 1500 and 2304 kbps and... no luck. None worked so "maybe" my above theory of the bitrate ends up being total BS I was actually surprised 768 wouldn't work. Since all are 848x480, and I know this is a new feature just implemented, i tried something else.

*Modifying resolution. Same 4 videos, same different bitrates, 768x432. Failed miserably again. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot????

*Ok, let's try changing fps. I know that the PSP has always been picky with the fps setting on the deal. Let's shoot for the same videos at 23.976, 24, 25 and 30 fps. I used 2000kbps just for the heck of it (they look awesome on the PC)

The final result is that I have wasted several hours of my life in all this. I want a refund; I could have been playing Resistance:Fall of Man.
You have now tried everything I would have done and I'm sorry you have no success yet. Take the weekend off and play some games on it. Perhaps in the meantime another PS3 owner will post something useful. Wish I had one to experiment with.

Re: Playstation 3 mp4 settings

Can you guys tell me if DVDFab relies in any other codecs?
In particular, is it using libavcodec for the coding engine? I wonder if I am having some sort of conflict.

Re: Playstation 3 mp4 settings

This is really weird. The PS3 plays just fine a video coded for the PSP, with the profile for firmware >3.30 ( 720x480 @ 1500k Kbps).
If I understand correctly, both are MP4s, main profile CABAC, so the codec should be the same and only variations are related to playable resolutions (the PS3 can easily play higher resolutions than the PSP) but that's to develop a little more in the future as the PS3 is updated more.
So, right now, the only thing that makes any sense to me is that there's something wrong in DVDFab as it transcodes for the PS3.

Well, that is strange, but glad you have something that works. You can compare the profiles line by line by looking for them in the "Profiles" folder and opening then with Notepad. But as my good friend maineman says, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Well, it is broke for me so I'll have to mess with it for a while. I am going to use the data here as reference but I don't know how much i'll be able to play with it.
