Platinum Setup question

Hello All,

I am new to this type of thing..so please be easy with these questions. I want to be able to stream my purchased dvds and camcorded (?) files through my media server to my 360 and rip some of those movies to my new 80GB Zune.

I noticed the default settings for both dont output a very pretty picture.

What are the bitrate/resolution etc. setting recommendations for both? I want to have close to the original copy for the 360. Space is not a big deal. I am streaming from a 2TB Ready NAS NV.

1. 360?

2. Zune?

3. Sony DVD Camcorder (16:9)?

I also noticed it was outputting the files at 24fps which I believe is the standard. is that better than 29 or 30 fps?

on a side note, I own Any DVD but I am going to purchase the DVD FAB Plat over the CloneDVD Mobile. I like the interface and options better.

Does anyone know what one has over the other?

Thank you very much

Sean

Re: Platinum Setup question

one thing is that 24 frames is not what you want 29df is what video standard is i believe and there is another difference pal and ntsc
pal is the standard just about every ehere in the world except usa ntsc is the standard pal=50hz ntsc=60hz 24 frames will make a movie jerky and pixelated

Re: Platinum Setup question

Hello again,

I guess no one seems to have answers for me on these questions. I hope someone in here can at least answer me what a higher bit rate will do for me? I have encoded a few movies for the Zune in 1k, 1.5k and 2k rates and they all look pretty much the same..even with 2 pass on.

What are your settings for encoding movies you are streaming to your media server?

thanks!

Re: Platinum Setup question

sorry you've not received any satisfying answers yet. i dont use these options myself but my next big purchase will most likely be an archos pvp. for now just trial and error and search the forum are the only suggestions i have.

when you find what works for you, please post so others can benefit as well.

thanks troy
