I've searched the forum for a solution to this problem, so if this has been posted before, please don't flame me.

When I try to convert a DVD to generic using avi.xvid, I have 2 problems. First, it only goes to 7% completion (~7 minutes), then finishes. Second, when I view the result, the video flickers so badly that I see more blank screen than video.

Can anyone provide suggestions?

Update: The flicker problem only occurs when I do a 1 pass, but is fine when I do a 2 pass, but it still finishes after 7 minutes, 32 seconds.

It looks like DVD read problem, did you try to use this title convert to other device, like psp or ipod ?

Actually, I'm using a folder on the hard drive where I've previously decrypted a dvd as the source. I've since installed Platinum to my laptop, and it works fine there with all the same settings, so it must be some issue with my desktop installation.
