Picture garbling

Hi, I'm a longtime Shrink and Decrypter user, but sometimes they just don't get past the protection, so I thought I'd give Fab a whirl; heard good things. Got 4.0.5.0 platinum.

I've popped region 4 of Ratatouille in, which Shrink just spits a dummy at. It seems to all go fine, whether I do DVD5 or 9. I haven't tried any other dvds at the moment, but I'm just about to.

However, when I did full disc at dvd5 it was too big, so I figured I'd mount it with Daemon tools, rip it through shrink, and see how that went. Shrink comes up with "Programming error - Exception occured". So I tested the vid with WinDVD just to make sure it was working, but the picture's gone really weird - there's big sections of green area on the screen, sound is awful and disjointed, and it's generally garbled. It's the movie as well as the menu. So I tested again using dvd9, and it came up with the same issue.

I'm sure it's probably something simple I'm missing, but I couldn't find anything on the forums. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks for any help!

BTW I'm running Vista 64bit, so that might be the issue... Seems to be with everything else!

Hi wyv,

We don't provide support for other software.

I think DVDFab can copy region 4 of Ratatouille, but if you have problem with DVDFab, please tell us the detail info, thanks.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

Re: Picture garbling

I wasn't expecting you to provide support for other software.

It's DVDFab that's creating the garbling. I was just explaining what was going on. I suppose I probably shouldn't have mentioned those other programs at all, and I can see why it might be confusing.

As for what other detail you need, I have no idea. Platinum 4.0.5.0, Vista 64bit, picture and sound garbling. What else can I tell you? Everything went fine according to DVDfab, so the logs will be of no use.

Re: Picture garbling

Hi wyv and welcome to cdfreaks,

For my part, I can only tell you that platinum had no problem with this flick, R1. The compressed files may present a problem for shrink (this comes up occasionally), but you said the non-compressed files (dvd9) were "garbled" when played from the hdd as well. I don't recall hearing this before...I can't say for sure about R4, but R4 issues are generally posted here.

Recommend you send the .IFO files to Fengtao to sort this out.
Here's a link to help out:
