No media detected - BSOD

Purchased DVDFab Platinum. I have been having trouble getting it to work correctly. I have sent an e-mail to their support but have not heard back.

System - HP with Vista Home premium. I have installed, uninstalled, cleaned out and installed again. It will remove the files and put them on the hard drive when you run it for the 1st time, after that it shows's the BSOD. It also shows a message window that no media is detected. I have copied the e-mail that I sent that has more details. Any ideas on what to try?

Sent this e-mail to support.
I uninstalled and installed the application again. I even did a
clean out as suggested from the forum, but I did not find the folders they
mentioned left over.

I installed again and it burned one (1) disk, then it says there is no media
inserted. Closing the program and restarting does not help. It would
appear that the files are being put on the hard drive correclty but will not
burn to the DVD burner. Each time it tries it ends in a BSOD.

I have encluded the burn logs that were done and also a listing of the new
system that was just purchased.

I have read through the forums and there are only two (2) postings that come
close to what is occuring. Once solution was to use different media, which
I tried and the other was for a different operating system.

When I 1st installed the newest version 3108 and attempted to use it, the
1st disk did fine. It then on the second copy would say that there is no
media inserted, (tried several different disks). Tried different movies and
same results, it would not burn them to disk. The next day in trying again
by uninstalling and reinstalling it copies the files to the hard drive but
now goes to the BSOD.

This is the only Decryter software on the computer, actually the only other
software that has been installed has been for the Canon 600 but the problems
have occurred before and after this install of the printer software.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Bill

Re: No media detected - BSOD

This sounds like the DEP list problem. See this thread: http://club.cdfreaks.com/showpost.ph...84&postcount=8. There are others with similar symptoms.

Here's one of the the threads signals (my tag team partner) was suggesting:

Hope this helps.

Re: No media detected - BSOD

Thanks to all those who responded with their suggestions, it was appreciated. I was able to get things working correctly. Not sure which of the following two it was, but I would bet on the DEP settings in Windows Vista. The only things I did was install the latest version (3.1.1.2) and follow the below instructions to add DVD Fab to the DEP exception list, the program has performed great since then.

Could not have done it without the great advice that was given. Thanks again. Here are the instructions again for anyone else who may need them in case they are having a problem.

Thanks for looking into this so quickly Fengtao. You are totally correct that there is no other user solution besides disabling DEP but luckily that is very easy. I think this will start cropping up more frequently as Vista becomes more popular and as more people hear about DEP and turn it on. I will provide instructions here on how to disable DEP for DVDFab Platinum in case anyone else has this problem in the future.

1. Open the control panel and double-click the "System" icon
2. Click the "Advanced system settings" link on the left panel
3. Click the "Settings..." button in the "Performance" section of that page
4. Click the "Data Execution Prevention" tab on the resulting dialog
5. If you are having this problem, the option for "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select" will be selected. Leave it on.
6. Click the "Add..." button below the list box (it will probably be empty).
7. Use the "Look in:" drop-down list to navigate to C:\Progam Files (x86)
* (If you've installed Vista somewhere else besides C:, look there :-)
8. Select the product directory - currently "DVDFab Platinum 3"
9. Select the product executable - currently "DVDFabPlatinum.exe"
10. Click the "Open" button
11. You will see DVDFab in the list with a selected check box next to it.
12. Click "OK" on the remaining open dialogs and you are all set.

You should be able to run DVDFab Platinum on Vista 64 after this point (if not, then you have a different problem). The nice part about this approach is that DEP is left active for everything else.

Let me know if you run into any problems related to this... - D

Re: No media detected - BSOD

Glad to hear this worked out. I was wondering what happened; sure sounds like the DEP list fixed it.
