Re: New version of DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.2.2

I've only changed I/O in DVDDecrypter a few times to test DVDD with DVD43. With earlier versions of DVD43, you needed Patin-Couffin access layer. So that's how I set I/O in DVDDecrypter, and it worked. The newest version is a standalone program, so I uninstalled Patin-Couffin, I/O in DVDDecrypter set to SPTI-Microsoft. That works too. For all I know, it would work without changing I/O.

Don't have any ELBY software, dunno. Nobody's posted yet to say I'm wrong. (AnyDVD with I/O in DVDDecrypter set to ELBY). So why not give it a try?

BTW, most times it's kinda redundant to use DVD43 and DVDDecrypter together. I use it mainly with VobBlanker. DVD43 seems to be one of those programs people either love or hate, depending on whether it works for them. It works for me, and is occasionally useful.

I have Anydvd and DVD43 and have found that DVD43 will backup a few of my movies that Anydvd won't.

Hmm... I tried DVDdecrypter with DVD43 yesterday... No luck!
Still get Read errors (Arccos?): "No Seek Complete".

Did you use DVDdecrypter in ISO mode? That's what I'm interested in.
Thanks,
PeJo

No, File Mode. If you want to use ISO Read Mode, be sure it is set to remove IFO Structure Protection.

Assuming your disc isn't defective or damaged, perhaps you should try DVDFabDecrypter, or create a PSL file for DVDDecrypter. Good luck.

Re: New version of DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.2.2

I used DVD43 with the unripper version of 123 DVD Xcopy. I also tried backing up a different movie with my copy of DVDfab Platinum, and found that parts of the movie (in movie only mode) did not appear on the copy. I recopied the movie with DVD43 and 123 and the missing parts were on my backup.

I bought the same deal. Number is just to prove ownership and that you stated you would not copy any DVDs as it puts a message at beginning that you made that statement.

DVDFab has a free version and purchase version that you are encouraged to use 30 days before buying as the trial is the full version. I bought several of their products last night after trial ran out. I purchased DVDFab Platinum, DVDIdle Pro, Ultra DVD, and Audio DVD Creator. I was able to save about $60 by creating a customized bundle. Plus all the products have free lifetime upgrades and support

can you tell me where to obtain a number ? - and i'm not quite sure i understand further - do you mean the typical EULA when installing throws a popup, into which you insert a "registration" number?

*edit;
i believe i recall researching a little back then - and i think a "number/ decal" was supposed to bo ON the DISK - but there's none on mine
*/edit

I haven't had a need to even try and install the software yet - nor use it - just very quickly explored the 1st CD of the 2

i ask - because i acted impulsively and once i found out it was basically worthless without a number (and really outdated at this point) - i just let it collect dust

thanks for the info on FAB and the other tools
i suspect they're in competition with anydvdv and clonedvd2 ? - or is it clonedvd and clonecd2 ?

If I remember right that the process installs automatically. Start with the DVDXCOPY Platinum CD and after it is installed, take it out and reboot. Then put in the white #2 install CD and it will complete the installation. There is also a text file on the install CD that contains instructions. I only use it a couple of times as was having good results with DVD43 running in the background using ICOPYDVDS2 until I tried it on a movie that they would not copy, so tried DVDXCOPY Platinum and it would not copy either. Thats when I tried DVDFab which worked great.

Your statement re: the software as "basically worthless" is pretty accurate and I think you'll find that the time and trouble you'll need to invest to activate it, is wasted. I had pretty good luck with it but it is outdated and very unstable user to user.

Anyway, there are no servers in the U.S...at least that I could find. You'll need your license # to activate it (mine came on a printed invoice with the disc).

Here's a link to DVD X Copy International:

http://www.dvdxcopy-international.com/

It's also rumored that Canada, is again, helping U.S. users.
Phone number for live support in Canada - 519-963-3099

Hope this helps

Re: New version of DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.2.2

thanks very much for the info - both of you -

maineman understands what i mean about a license number to activate, which seems to be the 'major' issue for me and many others....i wouldn't even install it unless perhaps trying/loading onto an older box specifically for home movie type copying (copies of camcorder stuff).

again - i see the futility in trying to use it for anything newer - and although i haven't a need just yet - at the least perhaps, i can toy with the 'structure' of whatever was used, or available for use on these cds. IOW solely for research into the more technical aspects of cd/dvd data structures....i always try to go atleast one step back before going two forward when edumacating myself - to establish some sort of base point.

your info was very helpful - thanks again

Re: New version of DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.2.2

Surplus Computers now has DVDXCOPY Platinum 4.0.3.8 that includes DVD Rescue for $19.99 including shipping. You're right about the number, but this version has a bat file on the Install #2 CD that checks for installation of program and if pop up is found it installs the required information. This is the version and price I paid. There were no numbers or password on a sticker inside the case. I always put copies of codes in a safe place and it was not there so I checked the files and found the bat file that sets up the install. Well time to put this back on the shelf and start using the DVDFab programs.

Re: New version of DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.2.2

DVDdecrypter will never be updated. He said he has to pay some legal costs and is asking for donations, but did write Image Burn which only burns. There has been pressure put on some download sites to remove DVDdecrypter. Reported on After Dawn that they were having to remove it,

The author of DVD Shrink has post on other forums that he will not update and cannot release the source code. Rumor was that he went to work for Nero, but that has been disproved so the belief is he may have sold the source code to them or another company.
