I am using DVDFab for years and it is a wonderful software.

I am experiencing my first problem with MULHOLLAND DRIVE ( studio canal ) HD-DVD.
It has been bought in France.
I use the XBox drive on an HTPC with HDCP compliant system.
I didn't have any problem with previous HD-DVD titles.
But once I put this title in, it seems to have screwed up everything :
- I was not able to use DVDFab anymore, even on older HD-DVD titles.
- I was not able to use PowerDVD ( except with the help of AnyDVD ).
- I was not able to read MULHOLLAND DRIVE despite my HDCP compliant system....

Now, with the new 3.1.2.8 beta, the older HD-DVD are recognized again.
( But if I insert MULHOLLAND DRIVE, DVDFab 3.1.2.8 crash )

PS : note for STUDIO CANAL and others studios who read this forum :
I have made the necessary efforts to upgrade my hardware.
( even if my one year old hi-end graphic card was powerful enough )
( even if my one year old widescreen monitor was good enough )
... and I can't play a legally bought HD-DVD...
It is a very good way to be fed up with the new HD formats...

Hi,

1) Please send the crash report of 3.1.2.8 to fengtao(at)dvdidle.com directly.

2) Please send us all the files in AACS folder on Original disc.

A recommended way is listed below:
1) Open an Explorer window, and navigate to AACS folder of the HD-DVD.
2) Copy all files to hard disk.
3) ZIP the files on hard disk to one file. Name it with a readable filename, like MULHOLLAND_DRIVE.zip.
4) Send the zip file to fengtao(at)dvdidle.com, you need replace (at) with @.

Thank you for your quick answer.
I have sent all the files as required.

I have also other informations that may help :
- the xbox drive doesn't work either on another computer ( in which I didn't try to play MULHOLLAND DRIVE )
- but it still works perfectly with the help of AnyDVD ( except MULHOLLAND DRIVE ).
- before MULHOLLAND DRIVE, the Xbox drive worked on both computers without AnyDVD.
- before MULHOLLAND DRIVE, HD-DVDs were recognized on both computers with DVDFab 3.0.9.6.

So, I guess it has something to do with revocable keys :
MULHOLLAND DRIVE has ( IMHO and to be confirmed ) disabled PowerDVD and the Xbox drive

So it seems that, ironically, I have to use the softwares that MPAA hates so much, just to be able to use my brand new HDCP compliant system !!!
( I like to use these softwares, I say that only to point out that these softwares were made to permit the fair use of recent non-HDCP systems and that now, they are also usefull for full HDCP compliant systems...)

Additional informations :
It seems that Studio Canal HD-DVDs like MULHOLLAND DRIVE suffer from an authoring bug ( no access to menu ). I can now play it with PowerDVD with the fonction "goto" to access directly to the first chapter.

But, unfortunately, there is another problem :
Impossible to play it with ReClock running ( ReClock seems to terminate PowerDVD ) so I can't have a perfectly smooth playback like with the others HD-DVDs.
( maybe this is due to the DTS-HD soundtrack ??? I don't know, but this is my only HD-DVD with DTS-HD and the only one which force ReClock and PowerDVD to terminate )

But this is another story...
