Movies locking up

I am having a problem copied movies locking up while watching and it seams to be taking a long time to copy a movie. It use to take 15 to 20 min not about an hour. Freezing up and skipping seams to be the main head ach. Any ideas on how to make the program work.

Thanks for any assistance.

Re: Movies locking up

The back-up is freezing up and skipping? If so that sounds like a bad media issue and/or too high burn speeds.

Re: Movies locking up

Freezing and skipping is almost inevitably caused by using bad media or media that isn't compatible with your burner.

I second philamber's suggestion, please try better media to see the result.

Hi ssimmons1, Welcome to The DVDFab Forum, Pull up a keyboard and make yourself at home...No one seened to mention that Verbatim blank DVDs are the media of choice and work VERY well for me...Slowing your burn speed down is even more important if you are using Dual Layer discs. You may want to check and defragment your HDD if it needs it.

If your handle is also your Email address, you may want to change it.
A burn log will help them nail down the slow burn problem. What version of fab are you using? Restoring your PC back to before the problem could help and if not can always be undone.

Let us know if you've got it worked out.

Re: Movies locking up

I have been using Verbatim and Sony disks as my medias. I have reset my DMA. This problem started several months back. Prior to that I had no problem. I am attaching my burn log. Hopefully it will help someone figure out what is going on. Thanks again for your help.

Re: Movies locking up

Just took a quick look...sorry, I'm headed out the door...
The "...Lead-in burning time (mS) 0..." from your burn log makes no sense.

A few suggestions:
Update your firmware
Reduce your burn speed to 8X.
I see you've tried sony and verbs...both -R?
Try A verb +R and bitset to DVD-ROM...
+/or
try a +RW disc

Re: Movies locking up

I've reduced the speed to 8X and they are both -R's.
