More DVDFAB issues....

Purchased Dvdfab Platinum last week.

I am not happy with the level of support received. I received 2 emails asking for verification of my issues, then I decided to check the forums.
I have tried the guides, the tutorials, watched some of the threads and tried hard pick up some tips just to resolve it on my own.

I will now officialize my issue here and hope that someone can help as I am growing frustrated.

Last night it was suggested that I try the latest release. It actually works but now in the middle of the DVD to Mobile (ipod) conversion process, and about 30% complete, the program freezes and I must re-start the pc.

I am using DVDFAB Platinum, purchased with XP with SP2. I am using a Plextor PX-712A as the drive.

I don't usually back up retail dvds at all, but I have tested the program with a gift I received. Jurassic Park box set. That failed as well.

The dvds I am transferring to my 5th Gen 80gb Video are music related. Basically live shows on dvd format. Nothing fancy at all.

I have sent IFO files as per one of the threads, I have yet to receive any sort of response. Just acknowledgement of the email would have been nice, I so understand that the creators are and must be, extremely busy with requests.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thank you for your time.

Russell.

Oo, Yeah,... umm, you should never backup DVDs that you didn't buy. I am wondering if there is something wrong with your PC. I have Win XP SP2 and the same drive as you, I know that the drives work fine wih DVDFAB. I would look in your computer's system log to see if an App. is crashing while DVDFAB is runnin.

Re: More DVDFAB issues....

jrkilloch brought up some issues that he/she is having with their copy of DVDFAB. Some interesting points were noted.

Are there any known issues with DVDFAB and other dvd copying/burning type programs?

Just here at work trying to figure out my issue, whether program or pc related.

Thanks.

Re: More DVDFAB issues....

i actually dont use the dvd to mobile options so i really cant be of much help in that area.

when your jurassic park backup failed, what type of error message did you receive? can you be more specific than just "failed"? what mode are you using, full disc, main movie...etc.

we can start by posting a burn log (if you have one) if you havent been able to burn dvdfab still logs some information when you insert a source disc so this would still be helpful.

Re: More DVDFAB issues....

The following info is from one of the Reggae Videos.
For some reason, I cannot get the PathPlayer to default, I have tried to have it always enabled, re-start the program as it asks, but it is appearing as disabled.

I re-tried Jurassic Park last night and it went off without a hitch. I am leaning towards the Reggae videos being recorded like crap, it's pretty much hit and miss, still bloody frustrating.

How about a qualified...yes.
There were problems specific to plextor drives (I'm not sure this was to confined to certain models)... I think with the release of platinum 3.2.0.0. At any rate, the problems seemingly were fixed with the release of 3.2.1.0.
Again, this is the feedback we saw from the plextor owners who posted back.

I'd be very suspect that this is indeed, part of that issue.

As far as your other queries as to whether or not this is program or pc related...I would suggest these are not mutually exclusive of one another and it may be easier to fix the problem without ever really knowing the specific cause.
I frequently believe voodoo is at work in my rigs...

And yes, there certainly are other software apps that definitely will, or potentially will conflict with Fab.
One being Fab itself...particularly corrupted or fragmented files etc., as a result of an incomplete uninstall, bad download, yada, yada, yada.

I know you stated you recently bought Fab...do you have previous installs on your rig?
Customarily, ppl simply download and install the update, that is, unless you run into trouble.
You may want to look at doing a complete uninstall and fresh, new install.
Look for a post by my good friend StormJumper and click on the appropriate link in his sig.

I try to live by the quote in my sig...if it ain't broke, don't fix it, but my OCD usually takes over...lol
Good luck and let us know...

Re: More DVDFAB issues....

Voodoo eh...lol. Nice.

I thank you for the input, much appreciated.
I did check out StormJumpers's link and followed everything. My defrag killed a lot of time and when it came time, I did go right to the site again to download a fresh copy of Platinum, applied the key, bingo bango.

I am processing one of my Reggae videos, almost done.

Will report back as this is one of the videos that wasn't successful.

Re: More DVDFAB issues....

Hey people,
Just thought I would throw it out there.
Anyone out there mainly using the DVD to Mobile feature of DVDFAB Platinum (ipod) and is having problems with the transfer or the sync part of the processed fab file?

So after Platinum finishes processing the dvd, I open Itunes, add the file, it adds fine but when I got to sync I get a message stating that, "xxxx.DVDRip" was not copied to the ipod, "my ipod" because it cannot be played on this Ipod."

I just read somewhere about shortening the name of the file or something like that, but that didn't work for me.

Any feedback, input, suggestions.....I am all ears.

Thank you.

Re: More DVDFAB issues....

Picked up 2 burners last night, just for s---s and giggles. At under $33 each, why not.

1. Pioneer DVR-115DBK

2. Samsung SH-S203

As soon as the latest video I am ripping for my Ipod is done, bingo bango, will swap out one of them.
