| Merge - I just don't get it - Can someone help me please? Hey everyone - I read the post at cdfreaks but when I did the Merge - something went wrong. I have some 'flipper' discs which I would love to merge and also some with very little on which would easily go on a DVD5 or DVD9. What am I doing wrong? I have the latest version of DVDFAB. I copied both DVD's to the hard drive - I followed the steps on what to do next and put them in order and started it - DVDFAB copied the first folder to a DVD and finalized it and ejected the DVD and that DVD didn't even work, let alone merge the other folder to it. Can you help me please? Honestly, I'm not a dense person I need someone to give me a hand. Thanks! |

| Re: Merge - I just don't get it - Can someone help me please? I will be the first to admit that the tutorial is not all that it could be. I am in the process of extensively revising it with more screen captures. The Merge has lots of steps and buttons that are hard to explain in text (but really is easy to do). Tell me exactly and in detail what you want to do and I will help you through it. For instance: Project 1-Merge flipper discs Project 2-??? |

| Re: Merge - I just don't get it - Can someone help me please? hi - I have some movies that are front and back (Flippers) and I want to merge them onto one DVD9. That tutorial doesn't explain it well enough. I did follow the tutorial and ended up with DVD fab only putting ONE on the disc and the disc didn't work. |

| Re: Merge - I just don't get it - Can someone help me please? Sorry the tutorial left you wanting more. I will try to improve it. Flipper discs are awful and I will try to help you get rid of the ones you have. I have converted at least 6 or 8 to DLs with no problem.Merge is very demanding of system resources, so I suggest you close or disable any background stuff that may be running on your PC and disconnect from the internet. If you need to refer to this post, copy and paste it into Notepad and print it out. Step 1 Insert the disc you want to convert into your drive with side B down and set to be read. Open DVDFab Platinum and make sure the drive with the movie has appeared in the Source window. Select Customize mode with the NO MENUS button selected (you can use Main Movie but it sometimes selects the wrong title on side B of flippers). Use the preview window to make sure you have part 2 of the movie as the selected title, then stop preview and make any selections of audio tracks and subtitles. Remember what you have selected here as the merged titles seem to run better if both are the same as far as audio tracks are concerned. Now select a hard drive folder as the target and click Start. Click Finish when done. Step 2 When Step 1 completes, take out the disc and flip it one last time so that side A is down and let it load into DVDFab Platinum. When the analysis completes, click Merge and make sure the disc shows up in the Source window. Now select the title for Part 1 of the movie and verify you have it right with the preview window. Select the audio and subtitle elements that match your choices from Step 1 and press Next. Verify that the first and only item on this screen's Title List has the little DVD icon and possibly the title of the movie (may say just DVD_VOLUME). Now, while still on this screen, click on the Source folder icon and open the VIDEO_TS folder of the hdd files of Part 2 of the movie that you prepared in Step 1. The screen will snap back to the first Merge page to allow you to double check all settings (which should be fine since you made these choices in Step 1). Click Next and verify that the second item on the Title list has a folder icon and the correct running time for Part 2. It will probably just say DVD_VOLUME beside the folder.Step 3 While on the second Merge page, select the Target drive and make any changes to burn speed, etc. in Common Settings if needed. (You can also write this to a folder on the HDD if you want to verify it by playing before burning.) When all is setup and ready, click Start and the Merge process will begin. If something goes wrong during the process, click the SAVE button before exiting to write a log file. Post back if you still have problems. |

| Re: Merge - I just don't get it - Can someone help me please? What a great set of steps and I wish I could use them all! Grrr- i do the first step and start on step 2 and flip the disc, the program reads it and before I can do anything, DVDFAB Crashes! I've tried twice with two different DVD's and now have downloaded the program again and will try once more. |

/EDIT/ Also try this: If you have the preview window set to open automatically and play the selected title, disable this in Common Settings-->Preview by UNchecking BOTH of the boxes on this screen. I have problems sometimes with preview enabled. You can always open the window manually. | |

| Re: Merge - I just don't get it - Can someone help me please? Heh heh, no. That I think is a list of running processes and may help Fengato figure out what is happening but means not much to me. The file I am interested in is called DVDFab_Event.log I believe and is less hex and more text. See if you can root it out if you have time. Its in a folder located at C:\Documents and Settings\..username...\My Documents\DVDFab\Log\ |

| Re: Merge - I just don't get it - Can someone help me please? To whom it may concern, I am trying to merge 2 discs and came across a 3step procedure on your forum, which I followed. While burning, at the end of step 3, there are two folders displayed on the screen, but upon completion of the burning process and the DVD is ejected, the second folder is no longer displayed and "DVD volume" is the only folder that is left. Where did the other folder go? I now want to copy the merged discs onto a blank but am afraid that one half of it has dissapeared. Can you please help me but keep in mind that I am not computer savvy at all, so if you don't mind you'll need to be really detailed in your reply. Thank you. Regards, Thomas |

| Re: Merge - I just don't get it - Can someone help me please? Signals, I have never merged a DVD, so I am just brain storming. I do remember that the few times that I use the Split Mode that the folder names were different than other modes produced. If I remember right, the end of the where the files were created was \name_of_movie that contained 2 sub folders \Disc1 and \Disc2. When you went to burn those names were very important, so I am wondering if Merge Mode is folder name dependent. I'm too cheap to merge to DL, but wonder if folder and\or file names could be part of the problem of above posters.
