Merge .avi files

I am a new user of DVDFAB5 and so far so good.
I am most impressed with the guide and tutorial.
However there is one thing I have not been able to accomplish.
I own a DVD with 5 Titles , each being approx 22 minutes long.

My goal is to compress to one .avi file but always end up with 5 individual files. Tried ‘Merge’ but still 5 files, not one combined.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Merge .avi files

You need to use other software utilities if you want to do this like AVI Joiner, etc.

You can even use the old dos command.

Re: Merge .avi files

well ive merged them plenty but you cant (to the best of my knowledge) do it with dvdfab. Roxio media creator has a feature called "DivX to DVD". You can use this feature to merge avi files. just click on the file icon (browse) and select the avi files you wish to merge while holding the ctrl key. make sure they are in the order you need as sometimes the software likes to insert the files randomly. select the pal or ntsc option then click on convert. now i know that roxio is not freeware and im gonna guess that you dont have it. however i have heard that there are many freeware versions of divx to dvd. i think they changed the name but you should be able to do a search for this software. i think they offer (somewhere) a standalone divx to dvd program that is not attached to roxio or any other software. hope this helps. btw, when the divx to dvd feature completes you will have one video_ts file. this can be burned with dvdfab or you can use dvdshrink to shrink (if needed) and convert to an iso file (if preferred).
