Lip Sync

Anyone else having lip-sync problems using the DVDfab Platinum's new "DVD to Mobile" conversion? I'm converting PAL DVDs and every sample I've tried throws the lip-sync out from the beginning of the clip. Any ideas?
Cheers

Re: Lip Sync

Maybe I should have said, audio sync. The audio stream is ahead of the movie stream. I've tried it on each of the "DVD to Movie" profiles and with varied settings, and with different DVDs but each has the same result. If I copy DVD to DVD then all is okay, it's only the "DVD to Mobile". Perhaps if all who read this thread could just indicate whether you've used the "DVD to mobile" feature and whether or not you've had any problems with the audio / video sync. Thanks. Alan

Re: Lip Sync

I'm having the same probelem. I've loaded 9 DVD's to my computer using the iPod mobile feature. It's happening to me with "The Wild" and "Beauty and the Beast." With "The Wild," the first time I loaded it, the audio was really out of sync. I tried it again using the "two pass" conversion method. This time it was only a fraction of a second off. It's not enough to bug me. With "Beauty and the Beast," the audio is great for the first half of the movie. The problem starts when the new musical number, "Human Again," begins. The DVD has a way to bypass this scene so you can see the film the way it was theatrically and I think the transition is what throws the audio off. The first time I did it, it was about 3 seconds ahead of the film. The second time I tried it, it's around a second, so it's still really noticeable and enough to bug me. Does anybody know if DVDFAB Platinum can convert VOB files from your computer into MPEG-4? I'm thinking about just ripping the movie to my computer, and then transfering it and seeing if that works out the problems.

Re: Lip Sync

It happened with my "Aladdin" DVD now too. The whole audio was out of sync from begining to end and that didn't have a different play option. Does anyone know if DVDFab can convert files on your computer that aren't directly from a DVD?

Re: Lip Sync

I just did a sample with a music video off the "Aladdin" DVD. I ripped it onto the computer, then attempted to convert it to iPod. The result was worse than if I had just ripped it directly to iPod format. It was so out of sync. I tried it again using the generic method and manualy selecting mpeg-4. Same results. However, until this problem is fixed on DVDFab, does anyone know of a good free file converter? I just need something that will convert the file that DVDFab produces into mpeg-4. Hopefully another program won't get the audio out of sync and will retain a decent picture quality.

Re: Lip Sync

Same audio-synch issue here......several attempts, same end result. Tried using other software (Videora Ipod Converter) and it worked fine......really hope this issue gets worked out because this was one of the selling points for me........

Re: Lip Sync

Hi all,
Thanks for all the help and for the prompt response in a new beta release. Have tried 3.0.1.5 Beta and the A/V sync problem seems to be solved (on a small sample file). Will need to try on a full length DVD to see if all's okay.
Cheers

Re: Lip Sync

Hi,
Some feedback: I've just converted a full length movie with the Beta version and the A/V sync is okay the entire way through.
Cheers

Re: Lip Sync

I'm having audio sync problems with the new version for some reason. It happens with "Beauty and the Beast," "Fantasia 2000," and "Chicken Little." However, the chapter skipping problem that was happening before the new version has stopped.

Re: Lip Sync

I had two movies that i got a sound out of sync with earlier versions. I have now redone them with version 3.0.2.0 and they are now perfect.

I am btw using the generic profile and outputting XVID/MP3 format for use on the kids portable Philips DVD player ( i put 4 films on 1 DVDR for travel ).

So thanks for the improvement.

Re: Lip Sync

I'm using 3.0.2.0 and I'm seeing the audio sync issue with the few titles I've done so far wit the DVD 2 iPod and DVD 2 PSP (tried both):

The Incredibles
Underworld Evolution
The Fifth Element

It seems to be "progressive" in that it gets more and more out of sync the further the movie progresses. I even tried "Double Scan" to increase the quality but still got the same results.

I'm still in a trial period with DVDFab and before I'm willing to spend so much money I would hope this issue could be resolved.

THANKS, it seems to be a great product so far,
-Zac Morris
