For the past 2 months I have had this problem. DVDFab wont Recorde a DVD to Disk (Hard drive).

Movies I have tired:

Flight Plan (max bit rate)
The Queen (max bit rate)
Rocky Balboa (max Bitrate)
Derailed (max Bit rate)


And many others. I belive this is a problem with DVD Fab not the DVD's or my PC. I have tired 3 Different PC's with the same results.

It says Completed, when you go to open the movie with VideoLan it starts and then they pixlize and freeze and then crash.

Flight plan pixilizes , but if you spik ahead like 10mins the rest of the movie works fine.

I am not new at recording movies, i would like some of you to try to recorde them to disk to see what outcome you get. I haven't tired DVD to DVD copy yet.

Hi Wizzard. Have you tried a lower bitrate, and if so, did it make any difference?

I have in the past, but I like my movies as close to DVD as i can get. I am tring Xmen 3 to see if it works at the settings above.

When the movies are less then 2GB they seem to work fine, however when they are large they don't work.

I really thing its DVDFab not error correcting its self or something.


Xmen 3 is almost done, I am trying 5000 first, if that doesn't work I will try 2500

Ting said in another thread that some of the bugs in the MPEG-4 modes were due to file size but that everything should work now for sizes less than 2 GB, and that fixes for larger sizes will come soon.

ok, XMEN3 file size at 5000 bit is 2GB (says video lan) Movie will not play, audio is off, freezes.

I am re-recording xmen 3 at 2000 bit 1.8GB to see what happens now. I will post my findings.

Here are my findings.

I re-recorded it at 2000 bitrate

1.9GB file size, audio and video sync are good

Everything works fine.

So i guess my question now is, files larger then 2GB worked before why did that change? I would really like to rip dvd's at 5000bit

Just recorded Take the Lead File Size 1.82GB at 1800bitrate. Audio and Video sync are fine, however its a bit too dark, other then that everything else is fine.

Hey, glad it worked. Probably looks pretty good too, I'm guessing. Can't say why that changed, but I think there have always been some issues (mostly A/V sync) with the big honking files like that. At 5000 kb/s you are approaching file sizes that you can get just compressing the MPEG-2 VOBs. Have you tried that and if so, how was the video quality?

i havent tired that, i haven't found any other files types that 5.1 will work. I have a studio setup , with a true 5.1 processor, so its very important how things sound and look
