What is the exact model of that Sony Carousel? Sorry if you have posted it before but I didn't see it.

Sony DVD DVP-NC85H/B Carousel player

But...also hangs on Denon upscalar unit....cheapo that came with speakers/amp but reasonably new.
DVD-557 is that model.

Is my issue disc or player ? I've heard bad quality discs can prevent/hang layer change. Been doing some reading and most folks seem to rave about Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL is MKM-001-00 which is Singapore made fab...not the India fab.

Myself I use Verbatim +R DL and burn at 6X and have the box checked to remove layer break and burn with VSO burning engine and haven't had any problems using the ones MIS

Sweet !!!!! Works....FIRST BURN.......Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL (MKM-001-00 dye)....Made In Singapore....Rocks !!!!

As FYI.....I used 15 DVD+R DL Richo's (RICOHJPN-D01-67)...all duds/coasters....that are sold at FRYS Eletronics under their GQ Brand name.....stay away from them...garbage !!!!!!! Got my money back from FRYS...great place.

Glad to here everything worked out.

I've burned at least 5 cakes of DVD+R DL Richo's with only 1 coaster?
Must be the drives used.

also depends on how long you want them to last.

with cheap media sometimes the 1st play is fine, but try to play it again a few weeks later & it's died on you.

- why take the risk.

So, I'm looking at the local Best Buys for more Verbatim 2.4x DVD+R DL (MKM-001-00 dye)....Made In Singapore......alot of Made In India ones. I found alot of 8X Verbatim DVD+R DL made in Singapore.......is the 8X OK ?

I have burned Richo's over six months old I've played many times with no issues.

When did DVDs turn into produce that have a short shelf life?

I'm told that newegg may have them. But, if not, get the MCC-003s - MIS.

They are great as I burn those at 6X and never had a problem,
