Dear Folks,

Hi, kind of silly asking this question, but how do you use the Preview function? I have K-Lite Codec Pack 3.9.5 Standard installed in my PC, can I use it to play?

I understand that to use the preview, I need version 2050 of ffdshow. Is that correct? My current ffdshow is version 1980.

From DVDFAB tutorial, it says "The Preview window will open but not play titles until you click the play button". Where is the play button?

There is a preview window on the DVDFAB main menu, does it plays from there?

Also, if any of you experts, can "teach" me how to use it, I will definitely be very happy and thankful.

P/S:- it would really be nice if there is some kind of tutorial video.

By default, DVDFab will play Preview automatically, and you can change it in Settings.

The play button is like some dvd players it's a sort of arrow pointing to the right at the left hand corner of the preview screen and there is also a square button that is the stop button. Yes it will -play from the main screen in the bottom left hand corner

install the latest FFDShow MPEG-4 Video Decoder 2008-06-22

--install ffdshow with all default codecs selected.

--when asked about which programs to use with ffdshow [you will be asked about video and audio] select: 'do not limit'

--finish the ffdshow installation

from dvdfab settings click on preview:

--select both play and show preview automatically.

--select DirectShow Decoder

--be sure both ffdshow video and audio decoders are selected in directshow filters

--click ok to save and exit dvdfab

restart dvdfab

--preview can be used with main movie, customize, split, customize split and merge modes and all dvd to mobile modes

--select a source such as dvd drive

--to get full screen right click the preview window and select full screen

--to ext full screen right click and exit full screen or press ESC key on keyboard

OK Mr. Troy even though I have done all that you posted in #5 I still can't use directshow, all it shows is a black screen and a little static for sound but it is running, If I use the internal setting all is fine the preview shows, Any ideas? at least with this latest ver it isn't crashing FAB anymore

with internal you have fast preview or normal? with internal you have sound? with internal you get right click options?

Don't have any choice for fast or normal, and no sound or right click options with internal

ok thats how i thought it should work. only new preview options with directshow filters. just checking.

i had to trouble shoot to get mine working and it has ever since, thank god. and once you get it working dont change the settings because if you change them back it will not work.

uninstall all versions of ffdshow, delete the ffdshow files if any left over. restart computer.

follow post #5 making sure to leave the default codecs and choose both Dont Limit options for video and audio. then in dvdfab make sure you select DirectShow decoder and ffdshow filters, both video and audio filters.

once you get it working dont change it

OK here is what I done, deleted all FFDShow files also uninstalled FAB, reinstalled FAB & installed FFDShow, still the same no picture or sound in direct show, I looked at direct show video and audio set up and nothing is checked in any box, Think maybe something should be checked in both, if you could look at yours and if anything is checked could you please show it so I will know what to check, thanks

No the direct show audio and video setting pages, nothing is checked in either of them

sorry cant help you there. i dont change any ffdshow settings. only the dont limit options in setup. all others are default.

What I mean is the Audio Decoder Configuration & Video Decoder Configuration and the VFW Configuration sections in FFDShow

maybe just try again uninstall ffdshow and reinstall. i had trouble at first but, just kept trying untill i got it. i even started having dvdfab crashes if i changed ffdshow settings so i just left them alone. maybe fengtao will still work on the preview options for future versions

Damn!!!!!!!! I can use cyberlink video and audio decoder from ( Power DVD) and it works OK but just can't get FFDShow to work at all, maybe need an older version

i have some nero filters but they dont work for me.

just glad you can use the preview. full sound and full screen playback?

during the ffdshow setup there is a box on the codec page, you can check to reset all fddshow settings
