'The Holiday' Burn Problems...

Hey,
Recently I tried to burn off 'The Holiday' and 'Rocky Balboa', and they both would not work. The program would close itself, or it would say that it could not find the dvd info. Both dvd's I noticed are "Sony pictures" and when you put them in the computer a thing comes up to play them that is made by Sony pictures. Anyway, decrypter or dvdfab would not work. Does anyone have any idea for fixing this.
Thanks.

Re: 'The Holiday' Burn Problems...

Sony is defintely evil and greedy. Did you try backup of just the main movie with latest version of Fab? Did so with I believe .85 platinum, at time and was fine. However I did notice Fab took a long time analyzing the disc. As it defaults to full disc initially, after analyze there was no data showing. I then selected Main Movie, and the data was present, and again ripped/burned fine. Alot of the "protection" on discs now is in the menu/extra structures - so often just doing main movie will work. I know you may want the full disc, but a decent work around. Not sure about latest beta, or if some did have success with full disc and .85 or .86 versions. Good luck.
Note, haven't purchased Rocky yet, but will, and will try with latest Fab at time...

First turn autorun off for your drive to keep the player from trying to install as it will cause DVDFab to crash.

Re: 'The Holiday' Burn Problems...

I too was able to back up both titles using 3.0.8.6 without a problem. Although, Rocky did take maybe 4 minutes longer to read than usaul. ~ Mike

Re: 'The Holiday' Burn Problems...

Just tried Rocky Balboa...R1, WS, Platinum v.3.0.9.0 Beta, main movie.
Had no problems whatsoever, Rip time = 7:27, no difficulty analyzing disc, etc., Burn = 6:17
I don't wish to revisit the "disable autoplay permanantly" debate, but Mack makes a good point. Why not try it with autoplay disabled?
It would be interesting to hear from folks with autoplay enabled on full or clone mode...any rip issues? (I have it disabled in the registry...just my preference...don't want to restart the war... )

Doing "clone" right now...be back and let you know...

@larry

Hey Larry! How are you man?

OK, just did a rip in "clone" mode, but didn't bother to burn it this time. Playback with VLC from the hdd, no problems at all...

Sorry about that. I didn't mean to disrespect any one here on board. I just would like to point out that's all. We're searching for something that really works.
again my apologies.

Did you know that fengtao and James made a deal not to post in each others section. I know many Fab users also have other products, but I hope the Fab users are not posting how good DVDFab works in other sections.

Yeah, like the ones who destroyed the old DVDIdle forum. I know Tom and Larry remember those days. Also good to see Larry posting some again.

Yeah a lot of people don't respect much. They say my products better than yours and it's free or whatever. If i want to spend my money on a product then that my business. Go away.

Re: 'The Holiday' Burn Problems...

geez, a rare post from me, and controversy arises! Must be a coincidence! Mack makes good point about the Sony and Interplay crap - however if the autoplay left on, you can usually close those programs quickly, and Fab continues - my experience at least. Tom, on the road again, but all good!

Hi, Larry I have been hearing that they plan to try to find away to slip the old RootKill back in and trying to get Gates to support them. MS has hired the people who dicovered the RootKill that Sony was trying to slip on everyone's computer. Maybe MS will continue to stand their ground.

Re: 'The Holiday' Burn Problems...

Ive written this 3 times for 3 different questions. Do you have a DVD-Rom and a burner? Some of the Sony DVDs (High budget films) will jam up if you just have a burner in your computer and use it to read. Its some kind of copy protection. Try using a DVD-rom to read it. If you have both, it could be a scratch or a fingerprint on the original.
