| Re: For Help Thanks for the suggestions I ended up restoring my laptop to three months ago when I remembered not having any issues. This, funny as it is, fixed the problem. DVD's burn without any problems or hang-ups. Not sure what I may of downloaded or had on my computer to cause the problem but whatever it was, it's gone (along with other stuff I would of liked to have kept). Anyone got any ideas on what it could of been or what happened? Thanks, again, Dale We_Love_Flicks |

| Crashes and more crashes Hi. I've posted this in several spots. I haven't had any reply yet and I'm getting kind of desperate. I've been trying to backup my Friends and Lost season 1 DVDs. I have a DVD player that can read Xvid and Divx, so I want to convert the individual chapters to AVIs conserving the original sound quality (AC/5.1). The thing is that I choose "Generic", pick my chapters, organize the sampling, sound quality, etc, write the names of the output files, choose the subpictures i need. I pick 2 passes. As soon as the first pass finishes for any given chapter, DVDFAB Plat crashes, no log, no warning. this problem occurs quite randomly, sometimes it does the job fine, sometimes it crashes in the first chapter, sometimes in the last, sometimes it just freezes at any given point. Fengtao, do you have a list of programs that DVDFAB could be in conflict with?????????? ![]() |

| Re: Crashes and more crashes I don't use that function, but Signals is the one who wrote the tutorials on those functions. As far as programs that interfere with Fab, there are some that causes problems on one person's computer while not on another person's computer. Generally they are other decrypters, loading 2 copies of Fab can do it, Roxio, and even some Nero programs can conflict.

| Re: For Help Hello. I have been having problems playing ripped ISO or IFO from the VIDEO_TS folder with a MG-350HD in that some but not all ripps will ramdomly cause the player to lock up (tv screen looks like the movie is paused) and the machine has to be rebooted to get going again. I know this box is early in it's developement and I accept the little problems that arise with it but I noticed while troubleshooting my problem, I re ripped the movies that were causing me problems with DVDFab and through CloneDVD as well as directly copy and pasting the VIDEO_TS folder to the hard drive and I noticed all 3 methods resulted in different file sizes. I am using NO cmpression what so ever on the rips and was curious as to why each method results in different file sizes. The rip from AnyDVD alone resulted in the file size being equal to the file size on the DVD when I hit properties and when I used CloneDVD it resulted in a file size that was 7.29 gigs instead of 7.60 and I found one file that was wrong while comparing the original to the rips and playing just that one file showed me there was a problem with it. I'm just trying to troubleshoot here and was wondering why each method resulted in different final file sizes. According to AnyDVD, the disc I ripped had no structural copy protection and structure appeared to be correct. I am copying the entire disc, menus and all as a 1 to 1 copy. Any ideas? Is it something to worry about? Thanks Chris |

| Re: For Help Hi Chris, There is no need to worry about it, DVDFab removes unreferenced/unreadable content from output, so the output size may be smaller than original size, but it has no effect for the playback. If you use "Clone" mode, it will be real 1:1, and the unreferenced/unreadable content will be filled with padding data. Best Regards, Fengtao

| Re: For Help Thanks Fengtao for the quick response. Is the clone mode what you would recommend for what I am trying to do? At this point all I want to do is archive my DVDs in an uncompressed original 1:1 format preferably in an ISO to play with the MG-350HD and ready to if needed, burn to a DL DVD or compressed later for single layer DVD. I guess what I am asking is what is the advantage of clone vs full disc mode if my end result is to be an uncompressed ISO? Does Clone mode produce a decrypted ISO? Do you see any problems using a program called TitleWriter to add DVD text info after ripping to the HD first. One of the main reasons for me to back up my discs in the first place is the fact that most DVDs don't come with the text info and is an issue for me with a 400 disc DVD changer. Hey maybe that could be a cool feature you guys could add to DVDFab. The older version of TitleWriter I have been using seems to correct the IFOs like IFOedit after adding text of my own but could this be causing playback problems on this machine or are some players just picky about certain DVDs (Hopefully solved with firmware updates if so). BTW I noticed that this latest beta seems to have fixed the DVD9 default problem. Thank-You very much Chris Last edited by cmazz; 19-07-2007 at 23:19. |

| Re: For Help Hi, I recently upgraded my DVD writer to a LiteOn DH20A3P (20x speed) and at the same time upgraded my version of DVD Fab Platinum to the latest edition. Since the upgrade I have had lots of failed burns (the disc usually burns 3/4 of the way through before crashing). Since installing the new writer I have upgraded the firmware twice and DVDFab at least 3 times, but this still has not resolved the burning problem). I had previously run my DVDFab with a NEC 2500 (x8 speed) writer an never had any problems at all. I have always used Datawrite disc and had the failed burn with both the pink/red 16x disc and the grey 8x disc. Can you advise me whether you think it is the writer or the software which is the problem? | Re: For Help @comcal116 Do you get any error codes when this fails? Do other discs copy OK? @lukeyboy You have made some excellent choices for the burner and the blank media, which I think will solve your problem. Those types of errors are almost always blank media related. The log indicates you were burning at the max available speed which is never a good idea. Rule of thumb: use the slower of: half the rated max of the burner or the blank media. If you want to diagnose the old drive and media more, click on the bottom link in my sig (VSO support) and follow the instructions. |

| Re: For Help What version of DVDFab do you have installed? And what is the title and region code of the movie? (USA=Region 1). Try going to Common Settings-->Read and clicking the "Ignore All Read Errors" button. Examine the disc for fingerprints/scratches etc. (but DVDFab usually does a good job of working through these). |

| Re: For Help Comcal, you do not need to do your copies in a two-step process (unless you just want to). DVDFab will allow you to set the target drive the same as the source drive, then will prompt you to insert a blank disc when it is ready to burn. |

| Re: For Help In Common Settings > Read> untick Enable read-ahead cache. To be honest, I don't think this will help, but it's easy and may be worth a shot. I think you have a bad disc. Send the .IFO files to Fengtao and he'll let you know if it's a copy protection issue or flawed disc. Follow his instructions here: How to send us IFO files
