| For Help There is a lot of good information in this section but has been bumped back to other pages. The search button is your best friend. I will put some links here to help people find a solution. One big problem is conflicts with programs, burner DMA off, media quality or compatibility with burner, burner firmware out of date, trying to run too many programs. If you have problems post enough information about the problem, program you are using (there are 5) name of movie, burner, media used, etc. No one can help when someone just posts “Product won’t work”. There is a Thread where I posted error codes for Gold and Express, maybe a mod will move it to this thread. When you think you know it all go to other sections here and search other sites to see how much you do not know. My brain is almost empty now, so I hope Tom, Larry, Ken, Gary, and other people who I did not mention will add to this thread 1. DVDFab Decrypter is a free toned down version of Express that will rip DVD to HD. You will have to use another program to burn it to disc. There are few people who post here that use the free products 2. Free DVD is a free program that decrypts in the back ground, but you will need other programs to rip to HD and then burn to Disc. There are few people who post here that use the free products 3. DVDFab Platinum is a combination of 2 products, Express and Gold the same as if you bought the programs separately. 4. DVDFab Express will compress and copy DL discs but will not split a DVD. Link to Instructions attached 5. DVDFab Gold will split, create ISOs and burn DLs. Great tutorial appears to be a secret: http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-fab-tutorial.htm 6. DVD Region Free + CSS Free lite , DVD Region Free + CSS Free, DVDIdle, & DVDIdle Pro have similar functions so you can compare here: http://www.dvdidle.com/compare.htm & more info here: http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free-lite.htm , http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm , http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-idle.htm , http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-idle-pro.htm Express Tutorial Attached too large to load click on the"?" at top of Express Last edited by fengtao; 10-03-2006 at 04:54. |

| Re: For Help Yes, if this post and the post of error codes could be regrouped, and putted sticked, it will be cool. I want just to add that if you use products dvdidle (talk about the rip only, not the compression and burning), don't use at the same time dvd43 (must be uninstalled) and AnyDVD (must be only desactivated). If you don't do it, you'll got dvd structure problems (particularly with dvds protected by ARccOS, Ripguard and alpha settec) for the compression softs....

| Re: For Help Stand Alone Players I know I have posted this before and may have been on the old dvdidle forum, but I think it is important. Just because you cannot play a movie or it freezes, it is not always a problem with your burn. My first stand alone player was an Emerson that was a gift purchased at Walmart. I bought a Liteon DVDRW SOHW 1633S because prices had dropped and I knew VHS was on the way out and CDs were even too small for some programs. It came with ICOPYDVDS2 wit instructions to download DVD43. We had the Emerson for about 3 months when a movie came out that we wanted to see so wife went to video store and rented it on DVD since the VHS version was out. I set the Emerson up and tested it on a still in case DVD that was also a gift that started playing okay. When tried the rented video it would not play, so put the New DVD back in and it played about an hour an froze. My wife took the Emerson to Walmart and exchanged it and paid a difference for a Samsung. The results were the same so it was returned for refund and video store agreed to give us credit to rent VHS tape when it was available. I ordered a Sylvania DVD player VHS recorder combo that was refurbished thinking that since it had been checked by a technician it would play Again the same results, but my wife had already rented a movie. She said an online friend said that the best way to view was to copy the DVD, so I decided to copy it as a test and I know we don’t copy rentals but I was frustrated and had never use my burner. It would not play in stand alone, but we were able to watch it on my computer screen. I had decided that the only way I was ever going to watch DVDs was to use my internal player so ordered a cable to hook to TV through my video out card. Called an 800 number and was given name and number of a shop to take the Sylvania for warranty repair. This shop was about 35 miles away and the person there was an older man who ask if it was under 90 days since we got it, which it was, so he said he would order a whole inside unit for it at no charge. He said if it had been over 90 days that he would have told us to trash it and buy a new one. On the way home we stopped at Sam’s Club and while shopping spotted a Magnavox that was a little over $30.00. This was the first one that played out of the box and was the cheapest of the 4 players. I even tried the burnt movie to check it too. Got the repaired Sylvania back and it worked even on my test DVD. When I started looking for a way to transfer videos, Tom and Larry recommended a Liteon 5005 stand alone recorder, which I purchased without regret. I almost think you could run a piece of sand paper over a Disc and it would play it. Gave the Magnavox to my wife’s grandmother sine we knew it worked, but then bought another one so I have three different players to check my burns on. Sometimes they play on all three and other times only 1 or 2. I learned from the old repair man that there is very little room for error in the position of the laser making the difference in good or bad plays. I also purchased a disc repairer/cleaner that is another topic I will post later. |

| Re: For Help Asking for and receiving help is what this is all about. Hopefully, after you've gotten some help, you'll reciprocate and help the next member out...after all, that's what makes this forum work. For the newbies (and we've all been there), knowing how to ask for help is often a challenge and maybe even a little threatening. Please try to put some effort and detail into your question(s). I believe Da_Taxman (Forum Administrator), summed it up as follows: "I don't dislike newbies, just lazy people who expect others to do their work for them." Anyway, here's a starter list of specifics, some of which, may help expedite your getting help: What movie(s) are you having problems with?...it's likely that someone here, already has created a backup. What application and version are you using? Main Movie only, or Complete Disc? What blank media are you using (MID)? What burner are you using, how fast are you burning and is your firmware up to date? Have you had success burning dvds with other software? What is your operating system? Free space on hard drive? Defragmented your hard drive? Are unnecessary applications closed down when reading/burning dvds? Is DMA enabled on your burner (IDE controller)? Reference thread here. Is "Enable Dual Layer Burning" unchecked, (unless, of course, you're burning to DLs)? |

| Re: For Help I know that I have written on this subject before, but cannot find it now. This will be posted in the Read First For Help thread, so I can refer people to this information. It is usually best to back up main movie only for several reasons. You can usually get it on a Single Layer disc that are reasonably priced especially when you buy in bulk online and free S&H is included. You can find TYs for about $.25 each delivered in lots of 200. Less compression has a better picture and there are not a lot of ads and other annoying extras to delay the start of the movie. The best reason is that DVD producers do not want a large number of dissatisfied buyers, so they place all kind of tricks in the extras. If they are not careful, the protection will cause problems on many players, so they figure people are less likely to exchange a DVD as long as the movie plays okay. They put bad sectors, vobs, etc., and sometimes they will put a scene in there that keeps repeating and expanding when one tries to compress the contents of the DVD. These lurk in the extras and when played they are skipped unless you try to change the contents. Another trick is to get you to install a player that is included on the DVD. Sony settled some law suites by several states for using this to put malware on peoples computers that caused a lot of problems when you tried to copy their DVDs. This was called rootkill and could disable your burner. Also, never install Inner Actual Player as it can cause problems. If you notice Fab take awhile to load minimize Fab and you may see a screen requesting to install this or another player. Always deny the request and close the box. You might want to put DVD in and wait several seconds to see if a player tries to install.

| Help # 1 how do I use this forum. I am a little slow and illiterate when it comes to this. # 2 I am having problems copying any DVD which I have created either one of my two standalone recorders. (The created DVDs will play on any player and my PC). DVDFAB, (as well as NERO etc) will complete the copying process - whether DVDFAB Express or GOLD - but when completed, fiinalized, and finished, the copy will not play on any player or my PC. Visually there appears to be data on the disc, but all players display "cannot play this disc" All help appreciated....... |

| Re: For Help This qustion is for Fengtao. Is DVDNextCopy a sub of DVD Fab Express or affiliated with them in any way? I have a valid reason for asking, a yes or no answer should be sufficient.

| Re: For Help When I choose to decrypt to HD and want to keep it there for use later, I create a folder under C:\DVD, then a sub folder \Name_of_Movie then browsing will show C:\DVD\Name_of_Movie Express will add \DVD following the name of movie when chosen as Target. Express will warn me that all contents of C:\DVD\Name_of_Movie\DVD will be over written. Source (DVD) D:\[Name_of_Movie] Target [folder] C:\DVD\Name_of_Movie I click OK. Express then creates C:\DVD\Name_of_Movie\DVD with 2 sub folders Video_TS that contains all the files and Audio_TS which is empty but some players will not play unless this folder is present. When I burn, I choose C:\DVD\Name_of_Movie\DVD as source (do not choose the sub folders) and DVD burner as Target Source [folder] C:\DVD\Name_of_Movie\DVD Target (DVD) D:\[Brand and other burner info, mine shows FW version] Quick way is to choose: Source (DVD) D:\[Name_of_Movie] Target (DVD) D:\[Brand and other burner info, mine shows FW version] Express will create a C:\DvdFabPlatinum_temp folder during installation, so it will add \DVD to the temp folder. Making C:\DvdFabPlatinum_temp\DVD The \DVD is where movie is decrypted to then prompt you to put in a blank disc after movie is decrypted to the \DVD folder. After disc is burnt, tray will open and you will have a choice to burn another copy or finish which clears \DVD leaving C:\DvdFabPlatinum_temp I used this method and choose main movie in Wide or Full Screen format and English audio. Then I added a DVDR drive, so it is simpler. Source (DVDR) F:\[Name_of_Movie] Target (DVD) D:\[Brand and other burner info, mine shows FW version] During installation Platinum also creates C:\DVD_FabTemp for Gold to use which adds \Disc. Resulting in C:\DVD_FabTemp\Disc. According to what you are doing \Disc1 and or \Disc2 will be sub folders or \ISO. Mack
