Freezing up on playback

Hi guys

I have used all three versions of DVDFAB and am very happy with it with the exception of one little iritation. On playback in my regular DVD player, the movie will freeze at some point in the movie once or twice, requiring me to hit the fast foward on the DVD player to get it going again. I am not sure this is a problem with the program, I use a HP DVDwriter, and a nothing fancy machine. Does anyone have any clue why this might be happening? I also noticed, if I rewind or fastforward the copied DVD, sometimes it will just quite reading the thing or go back to the menu, diffenitly gives me the impression it is not a great copy.

Re: Freezing up on playback

Welcome to the forum

This has been discussed many times here. Most of times playback issues are due to a bad burned disc, and most of times this is due to a low quality disc.

The solution is pretty simple: use quality media (Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden is the very best available currently), update the burner firmware to latest version, and select the right burning speed (burning high speed certified discs at a too slow speed very often gives a bad burn)

Re: Freezing up on playback

I am using Memorex Double Layer media, I have read all of the other posts on freezing playback and noticed a difference in syptoms, and that is that theirs would freeze for a second or two and then continue playing. I have to give it a push. Hence fast forward to make it continue playing. Is this the same problem? I can look into updating the firmware and will slowdown the copying.

Re: Freezing up on playback

Memorex dual layer discs are among the worst DL discs available. This is certainly the main cause of the problem.

I suggest to get some Verbatim DL discs. In most of cases this solve

Re: Freezing up on playback

Hi akersrus, I second geno's welcome to cdfreaks,

Totally agree with geno....
Does this freeze always occur near the layer break?...about 1/2 way through?
Anyway, definitely follow his advice. If you still have problems after switching to verbatim...(like geno, I think this will fix it)...post back with a couple of burn logs and we can take it from there.

Re: Freezing up on playback

I had the same problem as you m8, and i found it was the disc, my burn froze on one part of the film and repeated on a loop on another and i also had square block's of colour.

I have also burned a Dvd another time, and it created a complete ring of unburned track on my disc.
