Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab What I hope is a simple suggestion. Closing DVDFab platinum window has the same effect as the cancel button in that it wipes files from the Temp folder. If it could be made to not wipe the files then it would save time in recopying files. I for one would not mind erasing the files myself. It sometimes occurs that the DVD cannot be written at the same session as the copy. Hope I have not confused you here. :¬)

Not confusing at all and a simple solution is at hand as you can already do this. Common Settings > General > untick Delete temporary files when done. There are several other methods, but this is the simplest... ![]()

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab Hi, using DVDFab Gold, my question is regarding the burning speed when burning a disk is it best to use the recommended speed that the software recommends which I do not know if it is burning at 4x, 8x or what or is it best to set it half the speed that your burner allows burning with the SH-S203B drive and using Verbatim DVD+R 16X. or use the speed at 8X half of the DVD max speed, what I am after like most of us is a good PQ. Thanks

| Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab Hi zapper. I always set the burning speed that I know works with my burner and blank media and never use "recommended" as a speed setting. It is almost always too fast and results in discs that may skip or jump on some players. Questions like this are better if posted either as a new thread or in an existing thread that pertains to the subject--this thread is for posting requests for new features for DVDFab. It makes it easier for others to follow the discussion and add ideas. ![]() Quote:

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab It would be nice to have a "Minimize to System Tray" option so I can better hide when I'm hijacking my wife's CPU cycles for my own nefarious purposes. While I'm at it, on mouseover of the system tray icon I'd like to see something like "Task xx/yy zz% complete\nTask Time Left: hh:mm:ss". Thanks for a great product, even without WMV 5.1 audio support it's by far the best way I've found to rip a series to my hard drive and it handles complex subtitles fantastically well. Now I'm off to upgrade my demo version of Platinum to the real thing. ![]()

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab Nice application. Some suggestions: I'm converting my DVD movies to AVI for Zen Vision W, and usually convert the movie several times when it has different languages (one in English, one in another language), or different formats (Full Screen and Wide Screen). I like the option to be able to listen to movies in different languages and also when I hook up the player to a TV or PC, sometimes, the Full Screen version looks better than the Wide. 1) Add capability to queue jobs. For example, a DVD that has Full Screen and Wide Screen, queue the jobs so I can do both with one setup. 2) Add capability to use custom titles and filenames and for the application to remember the scheme. (for example, I always use: BOURNE IDENTITY - WS English, or BOURNE IDENTITY - FS French). Currently the application assigns names such as "BOURNE IDENTITY.Title2.DVDRip" 3) I don't know what the "Author" field is used for, but I'd like for the app. to remember what I like to put there (I use different computers with different logins, and the app. defaults to the user login as the author). 4) Add capability for user to specify maximum video resolution supported by mobile device, then have option to automatically select highest possible. For example, the Zen Vision W allows you to upload videos with max resolution of 720 x 576. DVDFab sometimes automatically selects something higher than this and if I don't catch it, I will not be able to upload to my device when it's done converting.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab When there is a software update, sometimes the software doesn't find the update right away. It would be nice if there was a button that you can click that will make the software check as soon as you click the button if there is an available update.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab I would like to see the "select main movie" and convert to other platforms functionality available for BluRay. Also, BD+ decryption would be nice! Any idea when we'll see some of this functionality? Thanks! P.S. There is also a really weird bug where the software wont work if I connect to my machine with remote desktop to use it. (The dvd is obviously in the target/remote machine)

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab I apologize if this is a repeat on a suggestions. I would love to see the capability to use DVDFab to be able to burn Games whether it be computer, XBOX, PS3, or etc... I personally love the program It is far superior to any other I have used.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab OK, I've saved up a wishlist of 7 items created while I've been starting to convert our DVD collection to play on our appleTV and iPods. 1. Automatic iTunes import -- just like emusic remote (and I think they've posted their code here: http://developer.emusic.com/ ) so that as soon as the iPod or appletv conversion is done, it's added to my libarary 2. Configurable titling and metadata rules within profiles - this would mean things like conversion to title case from the all uppercase and the joy of not having to remove ".DVDRip" every time. Emusic and alltunes (alltunes.com) both have good models for this where you might say something like "%Vc %Tn - Commentary" to have the First Title from "CONTROL ROOM" DVD default to "Control Room 1 - Commentary" as the default title (and filename). 3. Smart Resume. When I run into a scratched disk that doesn't error during Full Disc copy until it's nearly complete and only a file or two remains to be compied, it would really be nice to be able to tell DVDfab to suspend at that file, let me eject the disc for cleaning, and overwrite only the last (incomplete) output file instead of having to start from scratch. In a perfect world, the DVD driver would let me suspend, clean, and resume without having to involve DVDfab but you know that will never happen. 4. While I love the new cropping feature, I'd like to be able to automatically skip auto cropping if less than 12 horizontal or vertical lines are sensed. Autosensing just a few lines generally results in lower overall quality than just leaving a few extra blank lines in. 5. Within the ipod (and other mobile conversions that support only 1 audio stream), I'd like to be able to (a) see what audio I selected in the configure screen (just like I can see title/angle) and (b) select multiple audio tracks which then create multiple title configuration lines on the next screen (so I can rip a lo-res commentary version in the same session as the main title without having to come back after it's done or re-open the same folder--which you can't do if you're doing it directly from the DVD) 6. Support for queued work for up to 100 disks/files per session. After queueing up work on about 8 or 10 or 12 DVD discs or files, some kind of limit is reached and the next one can't be "read" and pulls up the error dialog. Unfortunately, that often results in DVDfab crashing as well, so I try to keep to 7 or less so I don't have to start over and I exit and restart DVDfab between sessions. Some data structures need to be expanded (or at least have proper error handling) 7. Allow the "Automatically shut down the PC when done" feature to be fully disabled. Even though I never check the box, I've had 3.0.2.0 shut down my computer 3 times in the last week. I've noticed that it will sometimes do this if I accidently start up a 2nd instance if there's already one running, but it's annoying as hell, particularly when it shuts down a fileserver. I would just as soon be able to set something that never allowed shutdown to happen. 6. Audio sync fixer. It would be nice to be able to adjust the audio sync for titles that consistently generate sync issues. Here are a few DVDs and titles that have given me this problem: Casanova (main feature only) Zathura (main Feature) The Sentinel (16x9 group of deleted scenes - doesn't happen with the 4x3 group and the main feature is fine) An Unfinished life (main feature only) Requiem for a Dream (not director's cut version of this DVD - main feature) While the sync is clearly a DVDfab bug since the titles play in other DVD players just fine, at least this would give us a workaround.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab show audio bit rate in info screen when dvd is inserted. currently, to set an optimal bit rate for audio conversion options I am having to preview the dvd in powerdvd, toggle info & note the rate e.g. 192kps, 224kps, 256kps. then go to my generic option & set fab appropriately, as there's no point ripping to a higher rate than on the original & I'd rather not rip to a lower. I know there's an audio passthru option, but ripping to mp3 format has wider compatibility.

| Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab I don't know about anyone else, but I think that having the ability to convert not only dvd's but other file types would make this a truley superior program. For example. I rip a dvd for iPod, but later I want that same dvd for a creative zen. I don't want to have to re-rip the dvd. If I could simply convert the .mp4 file type into the .avi file type it would save a lot of time and hassle. I would guess this would be a very wildley used feature, and since the program already converts to these file types I doubt it would be that hard to upgrade it to do so. Anyways, thanks for all the updates and for a truley great program.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab The program is great. I would like however to specify electronically DVD titles and jacket cover picture icons that could be read by by Sony DVD Juke Players that holds 400 & 200 DVD's. And do it all from inside DVDFAB Platinum. I currently use Titlewriter - a free program - to label the DVD's and to automatically insert my own menus to the merges I create with DVDFAB. The juke players recognize them. It just would be great to do it all from inside DVDFAB. Also, I have to use Nero when I backup the DVD's I burn to preserve the electronic labels I add to the DVD content. When I use DVDFAB to burn a copy of the saved DVD folders or a DVD itself, it doesn't preserve the labeling (even if I go full disc copy and select to copy ALL of the info on the DVD and then go back from my HD and burn to DVD). I don't know what it would take but these additions would be nice. Thanks for a great program! ![]()

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab Hey signals, your in Atlanta huh? Pretty cool. Me too. Alpharetta area actually. Hey, i would love to be able to add multiple encodings in the cue area. Reason being, say you might want to rip a movie in a smaller format (generic fits), as WELL as a larger file, currently DVDFab won't let you choose any "Movie To Mobile" profile more then once (ie- allowing "PSP" choice 2-3 times. You CAN select, for example, PSP and Generic currently. BIG REASON, That would allow users to play around and be able to try a few different combinations of encoded settings (using job batch) til they find a good bunch of settings that still look good at a specified filesize, depending on choice. Whether it's a PSP, or a Samsung cellphone, or a Zune. (I use all 3 that is.) And i also agree about some kind of better Update option, or at least be able to be e-mail notified when a new version comes out. Last version (4.1.2.0) a friend called me and told me a new version was posted on some hacker torrent site in there list before I was even aware of a new version myself, as a paid customer. Bad example MAYBE, BUT my point is, a paid customer should be able to get notification before anything or anyone, at the very least. And i visit at least once every other day, but i do want to have a better way of knowing when one comes out. I just like being very updated with certain programs i use regularly, especially one as good as DVDFab!!

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab Not too far apart as the crow flies, probably about 25 miles or so. I'm over the other side of 400 in the Gainesville/Dawsonville area. There has been some confusion about the updating process in DVDFab. The way it works now (if you have it turned on) you just get notified, then have to manually update. Maybe Fengtao will work some if his majic on this and the DVD to Mobile task list (this has been requested before also). Glad to see you in the forum--there are others in our area, and many more not too much further out in SC NC and TN.
