I find this need to press OK very annoying, If this was changed I would be a very happy dvd backupper and I'm certain I'm not the only one wishing for this possibility.

yes very annoying. this has gotten better since i first requested this feature. it seems to come and go with different versions.

fengtao, should i put in a request with VSO?? or is this left with you to communicate with VSO concerning dvdfab burning questions? i really dont know.

signals, i know you sometimes suggest communicating with VSO concerning burning problems. is this something i should do or not?

Hi troy. I'm not sure VSO could help with this. I used one optical drive for a short spell and the recognition time seemed to vary depending on what kind of blank I had. And some drives I've used have been faster than others. I think it's a drive/firmware thing. I also have Fab's I/O control locked in SPTI instead of Auto. Not sure if this helps or not. That being said, VSO does have excellent customer service and they will help if they can. I generally refer people to them that have burn error codes or unrecognized drives etc.

I dont think you are. I want to put a dvd into the drive, open dvdFab, click on "generic", and then be able to rip and encode each tv episode as a separate mp4 file. But theey are all contained in one "title", so although i can select a chapter range and ten rip and encode it, I can only do one chapter range at a time.

My request is for dvdFab to be able to batch rip and encode a series of chapter ranges from "one" title on a dvd.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

My biggest request for DVDFab would be to add an ability to rip from avi files (divx/xvid) to PSP and other mobile devices. Let me expand on that a bit.

I got a lot of DVDs backed up in avi format, mainly because I buy a DVD, rip it and that's it. I don't like wearing them off too much. I got those ripped avis on my harddrives. Thankfully capacities do allow to archive without any problems now (I got 1.5TB+ system). So, when I want to watch a movie on-the-go I do rips off those avis (psp doesnt play xvid/divx so i have to rip them to psp format), BUT using some CRAPPY converter (do a google, and you will not find one good converter, install them and you will see what I mean) There are simply no good ripping programs around..

Basically, my point is this: right now I am able to backup my DVDs to avi using DVDFab, but in many cases I need to do a rip off those avis. I mainly refer to cases when I need to watch those on mobile devices (psp, ipod, etc). And the thing about that is, well, there are no good rippers around : (((( I just wish I could use DVDFab, becuse I LOVE the option set and I love the fact that that its such a quality software. The only thing I'd like for that "rip from avi" part is ab ability to hardcode subs into the video, like I choose a video AND choose subs that id like to be hardcoded.

Anyhow, I hope I was able to make myself clear )) And kudos for all the great work!

P.S. This "rip from avi" thing could go as a separate product, but I think its NOT that big of a deal and can be built into dvdfab.
P.P.S. Or maybe there IS a possibility to rip from avi files and im just too blind to notice? In that case please DO tell how do i do that

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

Hey great program! I have been using many programs over the years and by far Platinum is the best yet. I do have one suggestion though; for those who ever used DVDShrink you remember you could choose where to apply the most compression such as extra footage or menus.

It would be awesome to have that capability in Platinum then you could see which titles are more compressed than others and make your own choice on how to "spread" the compression.

Also it would be good to see the size of the sound files too, 5.1 is great but sometimes not needed but still want to be able to make an "informed" decision.

Keep up the great work!

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

DVDFAB,

Thanks for making this great utility. I'm very impressed with the tool and would like to get it enhance it even better.

What I need help on is the ability to source .mpg files (MPEG2) in a directory and back them up to batch generic/mpeg4.

For example I have a directory of backed'up ELR files and would like to shrink them to DIVX or XVIDs.

801-Fun with Debra.mpg
802-Thank You Notes.mpg
803-Home From School.mpg

Thanks, Corey

Zune feature & native video file support

I would like to add my vote for a Zune (.wmv) mobile option. The new Zunes are a lot better than the last generation. I love your product and with a Zune option it would once again be the only DVD software I use.

Another request (but not as important) would be the option to convert to/from bare video files in addition to DVDs and image files. I am finding that my digital video library is increasingly a mix of ISOs, AVIs and WMVs, depending on how I created them or for what purpose I have them. It would be awesome if I there was native support for selecting AVIs and WMAs in the source/target dropdowns.

Great software!

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

I'm not sitting in front of my computer to grab a screen shot so I'll try to explain what I'm requesting as best I can. When encoding a movie for PSP or any other hand held device, I generally need to keep the file size rather small. DVDFab has the ability to allow a person to select the bit rate and will show the projected file size in Megs. The issue I have is that when you move the slider to select the bit rate the Megabytes are not calculated in real time. You have to set the slider and then the Megabytes are calculated. Is there a way to program it so that as you move the slider the Megabytes are calculated in real time?

[repost]

When using 'DVD to Mobile' / 'Generic' (xvid+mp3) - it would be great to have the capability of editing the AVI tags - at least the ones that are written - ie: a quick input dialogue when the process starts

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

I would like to request that when a task is cancelled (such as when DVDFab cannot convert a DVD), that the file that was created for the conversion is deleted. This should either be done automatically, or through a dialog box ("Delete incomplete files?" or something similar).

Thank you.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

I too would like the ability to convert from existing compressed files (.avi, .divx, .xvid, etc.) into iPOD (specificially). I have several thousand movies sitting on a media server and would like the ability to convert some to iPOD format.

You have a wonderful product and I think this will be a value added update, particularly as more people develop compressed media libraries.

Thanks

Me too, I would LOVE to see the possibility of choosing the compression for different titles - like in DVDShrink!!

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

Hi, I would like to make a suggestion. Not sure if this is where to make it. Since I don't know if Fengtao has any control over the forum. But, I'd sure like to see somebody put the box at the bottom of the page with who's on, back on the page. It was really a nice feature. And if not, then maybe an explanation as to why it was removed. Thanks a lot guys. You are all great. ~ Mike

Yup, this has been proposed in the past, but eventually gets buried in the now, 618 posts on this thread.
It's a popular request and needs to bumped up once in awhile.
Thanks...

Feature Requests for DVDFab, Aspect Ratios

Love DVD Fab! Have been using the Platinum version for over a year now. The suggestion I would like to make is in the DVD To Mobile section. When it comes to choosing the Frame Resolution (especially in the generic sub-section) there are many choices for different resolutions for DVD's in the 1.33:1, 1.78:1 aspect ratios, but there are no resolutions for the 2.35:1 aspect ratios. Even choosing a resolution closes to the 2.35:1 ratio still leaves bars in the actual movie, then another set of bars for the actual ratio it was ripped in. (Making the movie, shall we say...vertically challenged!) PLEASE ADD RESOLUTIONS FOR THE 2.35:1 ASPECT RATIO! Thanks!

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

would be possible, under split dvd..if you split a dvd to put main movie with menus on 1 disc and all extras on the 1 disc...but for the extras disc only have the extras menu...so when you pop the dvd in it goes to the extras menu

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

Used this product for about 2 years and nothing comes close to its performance. Your upgrades are quick and timely. Would like to see the application detect the region code of a dvd being copied so that the user can reset the region in the settings features before burning whereby avoiding having to go through each region if you've lost the original case which provides that information.

How about Nokia Internet Tablet support?

Be great to see support fot the Nokia N770, N800 & N810 Internet tablets (Not phones)

They have a good following now.

Also the Standard Creative Zen does not seem to have an option yet.

Two other models are supported.

Thanks

Why go through each region when all you have to do is check remove region code then their wouldn't be any on the copy Unless I am reading this post wrong

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

Hi Fengtao,

Great program,
I noticed a few months ago that I could no longer save the latest version of dvdfab platinum as a setup file on my computer. I want that ablility back. Here's why: A couple of weeks ago I was having trouble splitting dvds after I updated to version 4.0.1.2 so I did a clean uninstall (per stormjumpers instrutions) and reinstalled 3.1.7.0 from an old setup file on my computer.
That fixed the problem.

Thanks,

dvdaddict
