Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

Hi
It would be great if DVDfab add the option: "only split the subtitle (idx+sub) out from DVD movies." Besides, the output AVI option added more fuctions like cropping, deinterlaced filters, etc.

Thank's a lot.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

can you add DVD-ROM DVD-video and DVD-Video ripping and HD ripping to codec (avi) file and H.264(avi and H.264 playback file)?

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

Please add the ability to rip an entire movie in IFO mode. Similar to what DVDDecrypter does/did.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

DVD Decrypter seems to get the volumn label correct all the time. DVDFab (and Windows) doesn't seem to pick up changes when I switch disks. It would be nice if DVDFab could use the same method as Decrypter.

It would also be nice to Override the disk title, so you can set the title and have the disk rip to .../Customize/<custom label>/VIDEO_TS instead of .../<custom label>/Customize/...

See my reply to your post in the other thread. There is a good reason why this doesn't work the same as DVDD.
I would like to see the ability to customize the volume name also.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

I second the request for ability to specifiy volume lablel. I've had several DVDs with the same volume label "DVD_VIDEO" and have overwritten a few movies by accident because of it.

DVDFab should put the volume label in as it does BUT allow us to change it if it is incorrect. Strange, from other posts I've read on the forum it appears this option used to be in earlier versions and was taken out for some reason.

One more thing, I'm not sure why the programmers have chosen to put each movie into a sub folder: Main Movie, Full Movie, Customize...I find this confusing when searching for movies.

Under each of those folder there is a folder of each movie. I use windows explore to change that folder to Name_of_movie so I do not copy over it.

I understand that it's just another step that really does not have to be there. If we were allowed to change the target volume label if needed then we would not have to manually do this after the fact for DVD Labels that are missing or simply just "DVD_VIDEO". Every other backup program I've used "DVD Decrypter, DVDShrink, CloneDVD, RipItForMe" allows this option. DVDFab is also the only program I've seen use the "Main Movie...etc" subfolders.

I'm working on a touchscreen UI for easy backup and cataloging of movies via Touchscreens. The inability to specify the target Volume label along with the sub-folders makes it very difficult.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

One more quick feature request. Would it be possible to add the backup option "Main Menu+ Main Move". CloneDVD, DVDShrink and RipItForMe have this option...It's a nice one.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

Is there any way to supress the final "Process Completed Successfully" dialog box from appearing when doing a rip via command line? This is preventing a truly seemless batch backup process.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

Please consider--

1) Allowing user to change the volume id on the burned DVD

2) Adding sticky settings for Split: Preserve menus on Disc 2 and Jump to split title

3) Adding sticky settings for Customize: No menus and Rewind

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

When cloning a DVD9, instead than generating a DISCLABEL.ini file with the ISO image filename and the layer break position, please make it generate a .MDS or a .DVD file instead. They're compatible with a lot more burning programs.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

could you add the option to get rid of how it automatically makes a folder in the target directory that you choose? I have a drive that is dedicated to just dvd backup and i like to have the dvd folders in the root instead of having them go into a "full disc" or whatever folder.

I second the request by FoxRacR17 concerning target directory.

Also how about having the "rewind when done playing" feature available in Main Movie mode...as it is in "Customize" mode?

Main Movie preserves the original disc menus, which I think makes the IFO incompatible with the Rewind feature. But maybe Fengtao can work some magic.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

I would like to see DVDFab be able to coexist with Roxio. I have an HP pc as do many other people here. The HPs that I'm aware of come with some sort of Sonic programs installed that serve as some of the basic burning software. When a new Fab update comes out I download it to Save to CD. That CD Burning Wizard has the Roxio name on it.
Now, while I have not noticed any conflict between Sonic Record Now and DVDFab, I probably wouldn't know one if it came up and bit me.

I may be withdrawing my request unless some one can prove that there is indeed a problem between DVDFab and Roxio. Thank You

It would seem that I have put the cart before the horse. If it is possible to have this post and posts #294 and #295 removed from this thread then please make it so.
Thank you,

write speed ASK setting

Hi,

I am using DVDFab for only the past month but only 2 weeks since i bought it. The only thing that really strikes me as missing is a setting in "common settings" for the "write" section that woulb be "ask". So that instead of having to remember to go in setting to change the wtite speed depending on the task at hand, it would always ask you. I am using five different write speed and that feature would be so usefull.

thanks for terrific product

Hi Fouine and welcome to DVDFab and the forum. The write speed used to work this way and I wish it still did (or had a write speed setting in the main window, down near the DVD5/9 selector HINT HINT). You can sort of get wround this by setting a speed in Common Settings that you know your burner can't accomodate, such as 24X. Fab will then pop up the write speed box every time. The downside is that it doesn't come up until after the copying process (Task 1) is finished and has a 30 second timer, so you have to be right there when it comes up to be able to use it; no way to start the process and just walk away. Hopefully this will change.

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

Three requests:

1) Add a check box in Common Settings-->Write to "Pop up Speed Selector Each Time" with no timer, also to have this pop up before Task 1 begins, i.e. as soon as user clicks Start.

2) Make Preview Window available in Write Data mode if source contains VOB files. This would be helpful when re-burning temp files or other content that has no title name in the displayed path.

3) Option to set Volume name; this could be a drop down selector below Source and Target with options to accept DVDFab default naming or blank text area for user input.

I agree with these requests (especially #3). I have a SONY DVD 400 Changer that reads volume names, actors and etc. It would be nice not to have to use TitleWriter to add the Volume name and actors so that the changer will display them in its DVD list. I would to do this all in one shot in FAB.

Another request:

Could the SANYO cell phones be added to the supported list in the mobile function? I have a SANYO SCP 8400 and would love to use FAB to create playable files for it. I've a 1GB MicroSd card in it and I know the phone can play video. Not sure if its 3g2 or 3g or some other filetype (I used to know). I'll look into it again. Thanks to all for a great job so far!

Re: Feature Requests for DVDFab

I'm terribly sorry if this request is already posted, but the thread was sooo long...

I would very much appreciate a "zoom" feature. It enables you to crop the movie so that it will fit the entire screen on your device. No math or magic, you get a nice preview that shows you how the movie will look on your device (in my case a PSP).

Typically, it will chop off the left/right edges of a 2.35:1 move so that it will display full screen on say a 16:9 display. This is quite handy on i.e. a PSP, where screen size is limited. Subtitles should be rendered after the cropping, so that it works well with both wide and tall (4:3) material.
