| Failed to Write DVD: 5 (express) I recently purchased DVDFab Platinum. When I use the Express Mode, the files copy to the hard drive fine. When I insert a blank, I get the error "Failed to Write DVD: 5." every time. This is not occuring only with newer movies but every time I try a backup. And I get the error before any burning begins. I looked at the list of error codes and it says that "5" means files are too big to copy to CD+-/R discs. But that doesn't make sense to me. Isn't Fab Express compressing the files by the percentage shown so that they WILL fit on one disc? "Allow Dual Layer..." is not checked. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS! |

| Re: Failed to Write DVD: 5 (express) Hi BillRat09 and welcome. First thing to check is your target size on the settings window. The default size is 4200 MB. You may have to adjust this. There have been at least a few users with this problem. There are some older threads on this, but I'm at work right now and don't have the time...you may want to try the search function. This issue is certainly exacerbated with complete disc mode, but still happens in main movie. Next, take a look at the actual size of the ripped folder on your hdd...what is the size? Gotta run...

| Re: Failed to Write DVD: 5 (express) I feel so dumb...... Apparently the problem was that files had remained in the temporary folder for whatever reason. I removed those files and got a successful backup. Hopefully, this is the extent of the problem. Thanks for your help, though.... |

| Re: Failed to Write DVD: 5 (express) The issue with file remnants is more common than you might think. As Alan said, no reason to feel dumb, we all do this stuff. It's what makes us human, reminds us that humility is not a bad thing and hopefully, gets us a few more grins when we're able to laugh at ourselves a bit. Look at it this way, by posting this, you may have already helped someone else... ![]()
