Re: Failed when writing 2005 Just Like Heaven agree, however will say, found that this title backed up using main movie/express(2970)- playback had some strange artifacts I think related to copy protection....nothing major, just some subtle light flashing (like macrovision used to do), and some pixelation in darker scenes. Backup completly watchable, but these were still present at times....I forget the quality, although don't remember being that low of figure when ripped.....usual burn process, TY disc, ect - so feel title related. Really would like to try same with anydvd to decrypt, and another compressor/ripper...is dvdshrink still viable, or something else for a compressed SL rip? thanks

Re: Failed when writing 2005 Just Like Heaven Larry, I see folks are using shrink in combo with fabdecrypter...there were some glitches but I think fengtao patched 'em. I haven't read about shrink and AnyDVD, but why not...I'm sure someone has done it. I plan on doing this flick later on today. I'll try it with express, and then again with anydvd and maybe recode2. I'll let you know how it goes. Catch you later.

Re: Failed when writing 2005 Just Like Heaven FYI, Bkup with express - main movie, my usual. I looked over the disc for about 10 minutes...didn't see anything unusual. Later on this eve, I plan to actually park my old, tired butt down and watch it, I'll let you know... BTW, disc size: 6.92 GB Express, complete disc: 59% compression Express, main movie: 77% compression

Re: Failed when writing 2005 Just Like Heaven Finally watched the entire flick last eve...played perfectly, no pulsing light/contrast issues, no pixelation, nothing like the old macrovision/vhs stuff. Just to recap: Express (main movie) SL: MID: DVD-R TYG02 or TYG03 - this burn was TYG03 Burner: Liteon 1693s with latest stock fw: KS09...I thought about flashing to a patched fw, specifically KC4B, compliments of the "codeguys". The stock fw support for -R media is sort of marginal. However, I've had nothing but great burns and basically believe that...if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Burn speed: = 6X - default - when set for slowest for Fab with this burner and media. Larry, I think that these are your specs as well, for the burner, fw and media, anyway. Here's some additional info via scans:

Re: Failed when writing 2005 Just Like Heaven Tom, thanks for posting. Again what I saw I think was very marginal, but yet to me stood out. However there were no glitches with disc or anything on playback. The pixelation I mentioned was more like (don't know the technical term), where there is almost like a blurring of the detail, again only in a darker scene. Also I don't think one would notice unless played back on larger screen- mine is 51" rear projection.
