"Failed to Initialize Burning Engine"

Hello, and thanks for reading my post. I have used DVDFab Platinum for a while, my free trial expired. I decided to purchase it this weekend, version 2.4.6.9. I paid my sixty bucks, they sent me an attachment in an email with the registration code. Went to burn a dvd with dvdgold, worked my way through the first series of menu, the hit next, I get an error message, something to the effect of "failed to initialize burning engine" then a second message to reinstall the program, etc. I have done this several times but still get the same error message. Anybody run into this before? and what is the solution ? Much thanks.

Re: "Failed to Initialize Burning Engine"

Hi rgcap,

Tough to tell from your post with so little to go on. It sounds like nothing has changed in your system except that you installed the registration key from fab. Is this right?
Have you checked to see that your source and target drives are configured correctly within the application?
Check your optical drive(s)...are they installed correctly via the device manager?...are the secondary IDE controllers enabled for DMA or ultra DMA? (assuming your hd(s) are on primary)...do your drives work ok outside fab?...could you have a loose or defective cable?

If no resolution to this, post back with some more info and we'll try to help.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Re: "Failed to Initialize Burning Engine"

Check your device manager and see if VSO is installed as a device.

Re: "Failed to Initialize Burning Engine"

Dell 3.8 ghz, 1gbram, win xp pro, I have two dvdrw's, top one is a sony dru700a, bottom one is a philips 8701 oem that came with the computer. I had utilized the trial version of the software successfully without any problems many times before. The trial version expired some time ago. I haven't watched anything I wanted to copy recently. My friend let me borrow a dvd on sunday, I decided I wanted a copy so I bought the platinum version. Now it doesn't work. I installed the key as instructed in the email sent, and the product is registered in my name and email.

I checked Device Manager and it says the two dvd rw's are working properly.

I have no idea how to check the VSO, what is that exactly.

This is very frustrating. It isn't the movie I tried to copy. I still had another movie on my hard drive that I had successfully copied before, and still get the "failed to initiate burning engine" prompts.

I tried setting up each dvd rw as a source, and destination drive without success, can you get a refund on this product ?

I have sent several emails to the company support page without even a response.

Re: "Failed to Initialize Burning Engine"

Hi,

Please try to uninstall DVDFab, reboot PC, and reinstall DVDFab to see the result.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

I have checked the divices and VSO has been added and the DMA is also out

Does anyone out there have any suggestions on how to get DVD FAb to work?

Re: "Failed to Initialize Burning Engine"

here is two links for a clean uninstall/reinstall from stormjumper. also be sure the vso is not in device manager before reinstalling.
