Re: failed to burn dvd. do you want to burn again?

Just to add to Peter's ?
Need some details...
What media are you using?...MID (media code) please.
How fast are you burning?
It doesn't appear that it burned very far, if at all. Any specific error code pop up?...or just the generic "failed to burn dvd".
Settings in gold?
Recent changes to your system, media?

Re: failed to burn dvd. do you want to burn again?

doesn't matter which disc i'm backing up, error is always the same
media is comp usa dvd-r, where would i find a media code? i dont know what that is.
i don't know the burning speed, next time i'll write it down, i just let gold set it for me.
i just got the generic failed to burn.
i don't see any settings to set in gold, it's just a start button to start the burning.
no changes to my system as this is a new installation on my laptop theres is no history

That could possibly be a problem.

You can find the disc MID (or mediacode) if you download CD-DVD Speed, put one of the discs in, and go to the "Disc Info" tab - the MID will be shown there.

Lite scribe?
Well, if you mean a good brand, I also have a Pioneer and it should be okay.
So it could be the media that causes trouble.
I never buy "cheap" media anymore, because in the end they are just as expensive as good media because of throwing away a bunch of bad discs.
But the failure could be that you have the burner on an USB connection.
Do you have a special case for the burner? That could cause errors too.

Re: failed to burn dvd. do you want to burn again?

I use Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim...both are superb and consistently recommended here on cdfreaks. It's not an absolute, but try to stick with "made in Japan". Stay away from brand X and crap like memorex.

Here's an excellent reference for media.

linky ...

Hope this helps.

Re: failed to burn dvd. do you want to burn again?

Hi aquaholic, I have the same problem. I think its because I am using a usb drive and only have 512 memory. Thats why I use nero for burning and dont have any problems

I like the BenQ 1625, but never use the lightscribe. That is just my personal choice as most main brands are good. I prefer to spend the 2-3$ extra for retail boxed version instead of OEM. Also make sure firmware is up to date.

Re: failed to burn dvd. do you want to burn again?

Also BenQs come with Qsuite that allows you to check the media to see if it is recommended to burn on the burner at chosen speed.

Re: failed to burn dvd. do you want to burn again?

I have both the Benq dw1655 and the pioneer dvr-111d, and the Pio beats the Benq with most media, especially with dual layer recording
