Error Message "No Media Inserted"...

Please insert a compatible media to start the write process."

I've gotten this error message each time I try to copy to a blank dvd.

I've been using dvdfab platinum just fine for the last few weeks, but this error message started a few days ago. Using version 3.0.2.6 Beta.

I'm able to burn to my hard drive just fine.

Please help!

Thank you

Re: Error Message "No Media Inserted"...

Ericaf ,

I get this error message sometimes too.

I've found if you try clicking on retry a couple of times or ejecting the disking and then putting it back in and waiting a minute everything will work fine.

I think it has something to do with how long it takes the DVD drive to recognize the blank DVD.

Hope this helps!

Re: Error Message "No Media Inserted"...

Are you using more than one optical drive?
Occasionally this comes up and as Cipherguy pointed out, sometimes it's helpful to just wait a little longer or load both discs, wait a bit and then open the application. Also, you may want to check that your source and target drives are configured properly. A month or two ago, after updating one of the early beta's, I kept getting the dreaded, "...insert compatible media..." message. It turns out, my drive configurations had changed...I was trying to write to the source disc...

Have you changed media?...you may just want to try different media.

If you still have trouble, I'd download the app again and reinstall it
Let us know how you make out...

Hope this helps.

Re: Error Message "No Media Inserted"...

It's necessary to know what burner & firmware version is in use and what the media is.

Re: Error Message "No Media Inserted"...

I'm not using more than one optical drive. Waiting doesn't seem to help. I have been having this problem for several days and I keep trying, but nothing works. I've uninstalled and reinstalled a few times also.

I'm using Memorex DVD16+/DL4RWID2. My driver version is: 5.1.2535.0. I have been using the same brand of blank discs (Memorex) for over a year now.

Thanks so much!

Re: Error Message "No Media Inserted"...

I've recommended this in the past and it's worked for most folks.
If I were in your shoes, here's what I'd try.
Your os is xp, right?
Uninstall your burner via device manager, both on the "IDE controller" and the "DVD/CD-ROM drives". Reboot and let windows reinstall...

...or you may just want to do this one first...

Uninstall your burner via device manager, both on the "IDE controller" and the "DVD/CD-ROM drives.
Power off, then physically unplug the drive. I know it's a pain in the a$$ and probably is overkill, but it'll only take a couple of minutes.
Power up and shut down again.
Plug your burner back in and power up and just let windows reinstall.

I know you've been using memorex for a year and they've been ok, but you should dump them...multiple manufacturers, poor quality control and very inconsistent. Longevity, depending upon the maker is questionable too.
Stick with quality like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim...made in Japan is usually the best bet. With prices such as they are, it's just not worth using marginal or crappy media. If you need any links for decent retailers, just ask.

If you could post back with your MID (media code) and have a look at this link: digitalFAQ , it would be helpful.

Re: Error Message "No Media Inserted"...

If I get this message, on my BenQ 1625, I open the tray and close it while watching the light blinking until it becomes a solid light. Then click Ok. This in my case was being impatient.

Also, so others have given you some good advice. This will only work if click to start writing before the drive has ecognized the disc,

Mack

Re: Error Message "No Media Inserted"...

Trouble with Memorex is that the media can change from 1 batch to another & you can be sure what you're getting.

You could ask a friend who has a DVD burner to try & get the Media ID from it using Nero's CD-DVD Speed, Disc Info.

Also you could try ImgBurn to get the above info. This app will also allow you to create a DVD movie image & then burn that image to disk.

If this fails then at least it proves that DVD Fab isn't the problem.
