check dvdfab's source and target on the main screen. Make sure your target is your dvd drive and not your hdd. Sometimes my target changes to the hdd instead of my dvd drive and this usually happens after I update. Also good media to use are verbatim and taiyo yuden but unsure if you can get them in the UK.

xfactor4u,

In the above reply you said " the target is same as source".
You cannot write to your source disc.

Make sure the "Destination" is always different from your "Source".

Your "Destination" should be either your DVD-RW drive or
Hard Disc Drive.

A few other suggestions:
Use good media like Verbatim.
Burn your disc at a moderate speed... never max speed.

Hope this helps..

Re: dvdfab say burn successful but dvd is blanc??

Source and Target can be the same (and are for many users) as long as the Source drive is a DVD burner. DVDFab will prompt for insertion of a blank disc after the Source is copied.

Absolutely, I am thinking he was trying to rip and burn in one shot, using 2 different drives.

Thanks..

Re: dvdfab say burn successful but dvd is blanc??

The laptop drive may not be a DVD burner, just a player. You may also have a conflict with other software on the laptop that does not exist on your desktop.

@Psycho6
You are correct, no way to rip on the fly with DVDFab, didn't think about the possibility.

Re: dvdfab say burn successful but dvd is blanc??

I am running into the same problem. I can't burn from the DVD burner to a disk. I will get a disk that hangs and skips. So I rip it to the HDD and then burn to a disk. When I burn to my DVD burner on my laptop I use IMGburn and all is set the way it needs to be. I get a Process Complete but then get a blank disk. Any ideas???

Re: dvdfab say burn successful but dvd is blanc??

@ xfactor4u and jossef,

please download IMGBURN. if you already have imgburn please reset the settings to default. please run dvdfab with target as hard drive folder. open imgburn in build mode. select 8x as burn speed and navigate to your source folder (created with dvdfab video_ts folder)

please post a burn log.

Re: dvdfab say burn successful but dvd is blanc??

In addition to Troy's suggestion to post a burn log from Img....if you have any from VSO where it looks like something actually burned, please post these as well.

The default location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

Are these failed "blank discs" really blank? You should still be able to use them if they're truly blank. If not, try to open the discs with IsoBuster and see what you've got.

Are the ripped files on your hdd intact? Are you able to view the movies with a software player such as VLC, Powerdvd, Nero showtime?

If the performance of your burner is in question, you might consider running some tests with nero cd-dvd speed, such as the standard tests (benchmark), create a disc; and on burned discs, run a quality scan.
(link in my sig for cd-dvd speed).

xfactor4u, as you said, firmware for this drive seems to be a bit more than just elusive...as in non-existent. I recall trying to chase this down once before and found this:
http://club.cdfreaks.com/2007977-post2.html

I think your only hope is gateway, which doesn't bode well...

Re: dvdfab say burn successful but dvd is blanc??

According to the log, one quick and easy change to make when using VSO...
change from packet writing to SAO.
This may resolve your problem.
Oh, and CMC media can vary greatly in terms of consistency....in the words of our friends across the pond...CMC media, often is a bit dodgy.

I gotta run...kids are taking me out to brunch, be back in a bit.
I'll take a closer look later on.

Hope this helps

[Edit]
Also, 8X is too fast for this media...slow down to 6X or even 4X

Re: dvdfab say burn successful but dvd is blanc??

I'm having issues urning DVDs as well. Imgburn says it was a successful burn but the disc is blank and using DVDFab to burn sometimes results in DVDFab spitting the disc back out not long into the burn. Ithink this is a Vista issue for me though because if I try to burn with XP in a virtual machine, everything burns fine.
