DVDfab Platinum : Burn Speed problem

Hi,
I've been using DVDfab Platinum 4.0.6.2 for a while.
It used to take around one hour or so for all process (copy movie & burn to the blank disc)

However, for past couple months, it takes around 3 hours for all process and I wonder what's wrong about it.

Does anybody know if there are anything I can do to solve this?

I have back-up CD and I even re-install product, however it didn't change anything...

I appreciate for your help in advance.

Re: DVDfab Platinum : Burn Speed problem

Here is a nice little guide for you ~ http://club.cdfreaks.com/f61/trouble...-me-9x-101616/

DMA needs to be enabled for all IDE drives.

Re: DVDfab Platinum : Burn Speed problem

LOCOENG, thanks again.
The guide is very easy to understand.

I've checked DMA and it's enabled and I didn't need to change it.

Should I disable cache?
I have no idea what I should do.

It just too long taking almost 3 hours to make a full copy.
I'd like to fix it.

Re: DVDfab Platinum : Burn Speed problem

You have to look in two different places to check the DMA...the top window will say Transfer mode = DMA and the lower window will tell you the current transfer mode...ensure they both say DMA and not PIO.

3 hours does sound excessive, my old P4 machine would usually accomplish this task in under an hour.

Click Start / Right Click My Computer / Click Properties / Click Hardware / Click Device Manager / you will see IDE Controller. Make sure you know which one your drive is on.

Re: DVDfab Platinum : Burn Speed problem

Hi blueocean,
If you could post a burn log, it will give us some essential info and may help nail this down.
The default location is:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator Name\My Documents\DVDFab\Log

In addition tho the excellent advice from beef and troy, there are 2 "DMA" links in my sig. The second one contains an article with a VBS Script file that you may have to run. The article also does a great job of describing "DMA" and is worth the read.

Re: DVDfab Platinum : Burn Speed problem

Hi again,

You're still in PIO mode and not DMA.

As described above by LOCOENG, it's not sufficient that it just says DMA if available, it should actually be in UDMA 2 or UDMA 4...probably UDMA 2 by the looks of things.

Did you follow the instructions above?
If yes, follow my instructions in post #11...click on the referenced link (Reset DMA link) and run the VBS script file.

Hope this helps...and good luck...
