Hi again missjenniferd,

Well, it seems to me that if the current version of an application has fixed a problem, then the problem in previous versions is pretty much "water under the bridge", and not really worth the trouble of anyone bothering to confirm the problem or find a work-around or fix for it.

The last that I've read, the new dll seems to have solved Signal's problem with finalising (at least so far).

So far, I've only burnt two SL discs and one DL disc with 4.0.5.5 (using the new dll), both successfully. That's certainly a good start, but since my problem is intermittent, far from enough for me to say that my problem is fixed.

So please do try the latest version of DVDFab (Platinum or Gold?), but first taking StormJumper's advice to do a "clean uninstall", as it could be that some file or registry entry left over from a previous installation is causing your problem.

I don't know, but it seems to me that the vso_hwe.dll files for your various applications could actually be different, even if they do share the same version number.

Some applications are said to conflict with DVDFab. I don't know whether any of yours do, but try using msconfig to check for processes that automatically start with Windows and may run in the background. Disable the automatic startup of any processes having to do with optical drives, except any associated with the application that you intend to use.

For that matter, I prefer to have as few processes as possible running while ripping or burning (particularly while burning). But that depends on how "powerful" your PC is; you may be able to get away with running other applications as long as they don't cause a bottleneck that affects your optical disc application.
