DVDFab Express problem with DVD-R media - Club CDFreaks

I cannot get DVDFab Express to finalize properly when I use DVD-R discs. I have used discs from several manufacturers and also tried packet and SAO writing. Still no luck. Also tried selecting Nero 7 instead of VSO burning engine in setup parameters. Same thing happens with Nero 7, unable to finalize. I am using an LG GSA-4166B writer. Have now tried DVDFab decrypter and then writing from Hard disc to DVD-R using Nero 7. This worked fine. Any suggestions.

Try to use another writer. That is probably the cause of it.

This may, in fact, be related to firewall issues, particularly since it occurs only with finalization and only within fab. We saw a substantial number of issues like this back at the beginning of the year. You may want to try a search, sorry I don't have the time right now, but I'll check it out later on this evening. Try re-configuring your firewall or perhaps disconnect from the internet and disable it...just to see.

Does this occur with +R media as well?

No problems with DVD+R, works like a dream. Only DVD-R giving the problem

Do you happen to have burner set to book type DVR-ROM. That could be the problem because +R uses DVD-ROM, but -R cannot use that book type. Also which version of Express are you using? I noticed fengtao posted a link for DVDFab Gold 3 in the thread with Platinum 3 beta. DVDFab Gold 3 is a upgrade for Express and Gold users.

Got it to work at last. Settings that finally worked was to remove DVR-ROM and set write type to SAO. Definately does not finalize if write type set to Packet.

There is a thread on this buried in all the other threads but.

DAO=Disc at Once
SAO=Sector At Once almost same as DOA

Packet in individual files or small packets are written before another is written. where the others write larger chunks or whole Disc.
