I have tried copying dual-layer discs with DVDFAB platinum V2.9.7.2 many times and have not been succesful yet.

I have tried direct from disc, and from harddrive too. It seems to error out at the layer transition point every time.

This is costing me quite a bit of money in ruined blanks. I have tried 2 different brands with the same result.

I have tried a few different settings but am unsure what they should be.

Here are my current settings:

English
Remove protections
Region 1
Auto retry 6 times
Write Speed Recommended
Packet writing
Enabled Double Layer burning.
Overwrite rewriteable
Set booktype to DVD-ROM.

I am also using the VSO burning engine (After version 1.90)

Any ideas?

sorry to say but you have to wait for a new version of DVDFab with a updated VSO Burning Engine to deal with that, it improved the layer break removal, but the VSO Burning Engine still needs work for Dual Layer DVD's

I assume you are using Gold mode since there is no 2016 error code is in the Express list. I would suggest that you PM Ken (portmac) because he is with VSO.

Although express, in particular, VSO, has demonstrated some problems with the layer break, I've never seen the burn fail. Generally, the issues have been player dependent and perhaps, burner dependent. The LB issues we've seen have been: freezing, giant pauses, loss of audio, skipping, inabilty to continue without stopping and restarting the movie...generally stuff like this. The rip is not a problem at all. If you have nero recode2, use this to burn subsequent to the rip with express...the LB is just a blip on the screen...almost the blink of an eye. Also, you may want to take a look at a previous thread here, re: express and DL burns. The original thread on the old forum contained much more info, but unfortunately, was lost. Still, this one is probably worth a look. Portmac (Ken from VSO) is currently working on the LB and we hope to hear from him fairly soon. Hopefully, he'll have an idea about your specific problem. If you haven't already...I would email your burnlogs to him as well.
