DVDFab / DVD Region+CSS Free Discuss, Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts at Copy Movie forum; After decrypting using dvdfab decrypter, is it still necessary to then "clean" files with Fixvts. Thought I'd read somewhere that that was no longer necessary with newer fab versions, but am getting conflicting opinions. Thanks in advance.

Re: Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts

Just compress with Shrink (if you want) and burn. Imgburn is a good choice.

Re: Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts

rico,
Thanks for prompt response.
To clarify, are you saying I do NOT need to use fixvts between fab and shrink? (BTW, I tend to use nero to burn.)

Re: Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts

That's an affirmative. Just use Shrink and burn. Try Imgburn, it's free, it's the burning portion of DVDDecrypter but updated with a lot of good features. You won't use nero again. (Though I tend to use AnyDVD/ CloneDVD)

Re: Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts

rico,
have you tried using the pgcedit "wizard". Many claim it produces a cleaner disc.
It is basically usinfg dvd decrypter, pgcedit and fixvts to produce clean files, then use shrink, etc.
(Nero came with my burner, so in that sense it is frre to me.)
Do want to try imgburn at some point. Have heard good things about it.
Have a good day. J

@ jamoskeag3
I guess that you are referring to the free version of Fab. Imgburn is a free program that just burns so it will not cost you to try it.

Re: Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts

mack,
I was in fact refering to free version, that is, dvdfab decrypter, which i have used.
I read on another forum that you should run thru fixvts after burn to "clean" files.
Just wanted to see what you all were recommending here.
Thanks, J

Re: Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts

Hi,

There is no need to run FixVTS after ripping with the latest version of DVDFab Decrypter.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

@ jamoskeag3
I think that I know where you are reading this information, and I think you may be confused because that forum is referring to DVD Decrypter (a program that is no longer updated) that there have been wizards made to make it work with newer protections. That is reason for using fixVTS. It is easy to confuse DVDFab Decrypter with DVD Decrytper when reading complicated threads or it is for me.

Re: Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts

Mack, thanks for the response.
No, I know the diff between Dvd decrypter and Dvdfab decrypter.
On another forum, they are saying that fab stuff still needs to be "cleaned" thru fixvts. what are others experiences.
Fengtao, Are you saing latest versions do not need to be cleaned by fixvts, I
so, why do you not say so in when you include such when you explanation of what is new in new versions. Would be helpful.
Thanks, I think you have a great program. Just need to know more about it.

Re: Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts

fengtao,
I have reviewed several of the past version hisotry logs. cannot find where it says that dvdfab decrypter no longer has to be processed thru fixvts.
you point me to a specific location where I can find this. Not sure where the read me's are located. Thanks.
You should be aware that at least one other forum is saying to run dvdfab files thru fixvts. so I am confused. Who' right??
Thank you.

Re: Dvdfab decrypter and Fixvts

2.9.6.6 (12/28/2005)
- Change: Improved copying engine, hopefully you don't need to
post-process with VobBlanker or FixVTS anymore.

2.9.7.0 (01/30/2006)
- New: Remap VobID/CellID to make it always consecutive, and always start at 1.
This should solve DVD Shrink's problem: main movie cannot be compressed,
audio and subpicture size is wrong.

Above two changes do the same things as FixVTS, normally you don't need post-process with FixVTS. But if DVD Shrink refuse to open the output of DVDFab Decrypter, you still can try FixVTS to see the result.

Best Regards,
Fengtao
