DVDFab + AnyDVD = incompatibility?

Just about to flash the firmware in my NEC ND-3500AG CD/DVD burner to remove the utterly ridiculous region code restriction (really...who is going to lug a case of pirated software through customs?), I noticed that the drive is OEM ("retail" from TigerDirect). That means the driver I downloaded from "http://tdb.rpc1.org/" to change the code to RPC1 is useless. So I tried the latest version of AnyDVD and got a message from my DVDFab Platinum app that it won't work with AnyDVD.

While overseas, I bought some movies (PAL). When removing the seemingly endless ads, I also converted the movies to NTSC. How absurd that I am not permitted to watch on my TV the movies I bought!

Software companies, like Nero, build in "protection"; DVDs companies (understandably) add "protection"; but for mfrs of DVD drives to build into their chips "protection" smacks of dictatorial collusion. Ulead Video Studio 10 and the nearly useless VirtualDub won't even open these files, despite installation of the required codecs. And I don't want to fiddle with convoluted apps like IFOedit and PGCedit; besides, their so-called "guides" miss steps and have sentences without verbs (geeks are so illiterate!).

DVDFab Platinum has done a great job of backing up my locally bought DVDs, but it can't handle stuff from Europe. Before I invest in the expensive option of going the h'ware route, is there a way that I can burn my converted DVDs? They play properly on my PC.

Re: DVDFab + AnyDVD = incompatibility?

Hi Djard,

DVDFab can read DVD from any region, even if the DVD drive is locked to a specific region. What error do you get when using DVDFab to copy your europe discs?

DVDFab and AnyDVD both can remove DVD protections, so running simultaneously will cause conflict, just like you run two anti-virus software on one PC. You only need disable AnyDVD before running DVDFab, to make DVDFab work alone and correctly.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

....these guys who write these programs! so much they have yet to learn... Guess you can write some hundred twenty better applications including astonishing User Guides. Is anyone stopping you?

Thanks for the kind reminder that I have no right to gripe about unintelligible "guides" to freeware. You are right...sorry. And I apologize to the developers of IFOedit and VirtualDub. But if I buy an app and the "help" files" appear to have been written at at a level below third-grade English, the parents of those writers deserve a refund from our "education" deparment. Then again, if developers did communicate clearly how to use their products, we would have little need for great forums like this one.

Re: DVDFab + AnyDVD = incompatibility?

Hi Fengtao,

Thanks for responding. Since installing AnyDVD, whenever I launch DVDFab Platinum with a DVD in the drive, the following (DVDFabPlatinum) message appears:

"AnyDVD is detected. You need disable AnyDVD to make DVDFab work correctly."

Well, you were brave enough to apologize. I should do the same for being sarcastic.
