fully agree! This software has great support!
Actually I bought a license of DVDFab Platinum mainly to support the developers! I didn't use the app very often - mainly the free ripper part - but when a products gets such great support, we should honor this.

I absolutely agree with this point! I think many users want to have a all-doing, perfectly ripping, encoding, transcoding coffe-cooking mashine...
I already believe DVDFab has too many features, it's miles away from a simple dvd-backup software, which makes it more complex, difficult to write and therefore dificult to avoid bugs.

Actually I would recommend Fengtao to stop investing time in new features for, let's say 1-2 months, and keep the eye on fixing all known bugs. I believe this would make DVDFab 5 a great product!

Problems like those mentioned above did not happened on
version 4.1.2.0. It was flawless program. I could ripped
moives and view it later without any problems. Noted, that I
am using now using both DVDFAB 4 & 5. I wanted to
continue using version 5.0.2.2 but I think it is really not ready
for the big league. Version 4.1.2.0 is.

Well, what makes an application to be part of "the big league"?
To me, that means stability and trouble free working.

I want to insert the disc, start the copy process and be sure to 100% that the result is going to play on all of my standalones (Of course we take excellent media and burners as a requirement, as well as the lastest version of the apps). I want to be sure the finished copy is compatible to the official DVD-Specs and makes no troubles with any hardware- or software player I throw it at. I don' have the time nor the energy to check every disc I burn.

The one and only tool which fulfilles this expectations is AnyDVD + CloneDVD + Shrink for me!
This combination has NEVER let me down, I NEVER had to check my backup (and I made several hundres with this tools, all of them play perfectly fine in all DVD-players I used)

I which DVDFab to have such a great quality, but right now - it hasn't..
Some copies don't work in PowerDVD, some refuse to play with VLC, in earlier versions the copies took 60secons to start in my standalone...
This never happens with AnyDVD!

I bougt a license to support Fengtao and his team to make this product as stable as I would love to see it, but right now, I'm still working with my old AnyDVD/Shrink setup.

with best regards

Re: DVDFAB 5.0.2.2 not ready for the BIG LEAGUE.

Dear PianoMan,

Thanks for your support.

That is my purposed of this THREAD. I am not a diehard
DVD ripper but I need a program that is STABLE and
RELIABLE. And you're right to say that DVDFAB is a good
program that has too many functions....as a result, it can be
over-whelming for users and producers.

I do not regret buying DVDFAB a bit (considering the
fabulous customers service, Free lifetime upgrades, nice
forum people)....But I hesitated it to use because I do not
know if the program will do the job. And that is a big
FRUSTRATION....I cannot afford to sit around for hrs & hrs
& hrs to re-ripped all the movies that were NOT done well by
DVDFAB.

On the other hand, I would love to use AnyDVD but it is too
expensive, and I do not want to invest in other DVD
softwares.

To be Frank, I have ease using DVDFAB version 5 (I still use
version 4.1.2.0...sometimes). I get better results from using
EMC + CCS Regional Coding (by Fengtao Of couse....) to rip
my movies, these programs do not have all the nuts and bolts
like DVDFAB, but they are really good. Never had any
problems.

I do hope that Fengtao has the opportunity to see this
THREAD and understand (as Pianoman quoted) that
Fengtao has to temporary stop creating new features and
concentrating on improving current version....which I think
that is what Fengtao maybe doing...slowly & surely.

Thank you for read my post.

Re: DVDFAB 5.0.2.2 not ready for the BIG LEAGUE.

Ok I'm an off and on long time reader but first time poster here. I just officially registered today. I have not yet bought this software and probably will not until appears to be reliable and stable. I do not rip dvd's everyday, and never will. That IS the point. I want software that just plain works the first time around. I may not be flat broke, but I cannot afford to purchase a non working program that continues to burn coasters. I don't mind updating to the latest and greatest version as long as it works. I WANT an idiot style tutorial with all the purdy pictures to walk me through all of the proper settings that allow me to meet my DVD backup needs. I know a few of the tech terms, but I don't know nor do I care to know what they all stand for, how they work or even what they affect as long as it works. I want to know that if I put a little check mark in this box that my DVD backup is a go. That's just my 2 cents. Thank you for your time!

@tunda, No such program exists. DvdFab is so easy to use that either you haven't tried it, or copying DVD's is beyond you technical ability. I know many people that fit into this category, I do not mean it as a insult. I am almost flat broke, so I know what you mean.

Hi, nice knowing you.....

I maybe contridicting myself but I agree with Zathros.

DVDFAB has good and bad issues, I purchased 4.1.2.0 some time in March & I enjoyed using it. The program was stable and I find it easy to use. Had problems at first but was able to settled them (with help from folks in this forum).

I was overly excited when version 5 came out....and had very high hopes of it, but I experience problems in the beginning and perhaps that was why I were "a little" upset that version 5 did not meant to the standard of version 4.

Although, I have temporary "ease" using version 5, I am still looking forward for new updates and constantly trying the new version. Give it a month or 2, perhaps, version 5 will eventually be "stable".

Of course, you can get some other EASY-2-Use programs that can ripped DVDs, but I doubt they can offer such fabulous forum.

Thank you

i dont see how it can be much easier and more reliable. just set up dvdfab and imgburn as per my video. just do main movie as nothing else is really needed anyway. just a few clicks and your are done. dont even have to think about it. just put the dvd in and click next, start.

there is no easier option to do main movie backups. PERIOD

( yes there maybe better programs to do other stuff. and i have a few of those programs too. )

Of course, that is why sometimes we like a program that can rip-and-go. Moreover, different people (Sea Monster included) has different level of intelligence, and different learning curve.....I considered myself....below average (for Sea Monster's intelligence, of course).

Re: DVDFAB 5.0.2.2 not ready for the BIG LEAGUE.

you either want a program that is continuously & quickly updated to beat all new protections ( & accept that you'll get bugs & glitches as a consequence), or you want somthing that's very stable, gets lots of testing before it's released, & thus is out of date when new protections hit the market & won't rip your newer DVds

DVDfab is in the former category, name a DVD that it can't rip & they'll fix it I guess most competitor products are in the latter. e.g. DVD shrink is NEVER updated. HOw fast does anydvd update to defeat new protections ?

Sometimes 4-5 times a week, but even the BETA versions did never show up any bugs on my pc.

Let me start by saying I did not take it as an insult and that I TOTALLY understand things being beyond a person's technical ability. We do not have a "tech" guy at work but the powers that be seem to call me when problems arise. It may take me a while but I can usually solve the problem.

I HAVE used an older version of DVDFAB with a previous system and it worked like a charm. It must have been free because I do not recall paying anything. I built myself a new system about 6-9 months ago but did not install DVDFAB ?5.0.2.0?, trial version, until last week. I'm not sure of the version of last week's install since I just updated to version 5.0.2.5 yesterday in hopes that it would help reduce the percentage of coasters I have been producing. Right now it's around 50%. It used to be rare to get even 1 bad disc.

I'm not saying that I don't have some magical mythical setting incorrectly set, but until someone comes out with that over simplified guide I alluded to in my previous post, with the generic "start here these work for almost everyone" settings, I don't even know where to start asking for help.

the most important part of successful burning is good media. what blanks are you currently using? i suggest you get either verbatim or taiyo yuden media.

next you need to be sure you are not burning to fast so set your burn speed to 8x.

have you watched my videos? it cant be much easier.

Please remember that I do not burn very often so I am still using the same media as before which is old FUJIFILM 8X DVD+R's. They worked great with my old system, different burner but both made by LiteOn.

I chose recommended burn speed which WAS 8X.

Actually I have not seen your videos. Maybe I should not have posted until I had researched all of the various options before me, but a quick search turned up bogus and non existent info and it appeared that the software was still buggy. If you could please link the videos and I will check them out tonight when I get home. Hopefully they will point out my mistakes. Well I'm off to pick up a 50cc dirt bike for the kids. Will check back later. Thanks all!

Generally, selecting 1/2 the rated speed of the blank media or 1/2 the max burn speed of your burner...whichever is slower...is a good starting point for selecting an initial burn speed.
Personally, I don't have much use for "recommended" and I suspect most of us that have used this software for awhile, will agree.

Actually, Troy has already provided the link...look on the second line from the bottom in his sig.

And good luck with the kids and dirt bike...

DVDFAB is excellent..look at the number of formats it deals with the variety of copy protection that exists..the speed of the developers to fix things AND IMPROVE things that THEY think need improved as well as the rest of the things the end users want...

Most of the other vendors supply less feature rich products at higher prices with poorer support....

I cannot agree with SM at all....long live DVDFAB...down with Sea Monsters!!!
