This fixed the problem I was having with the CUSTOMIZE --> PRESERVE MENU --> JUMP TO FIRST MENU bug. It is now fixed with this version.

While cleaning the registry is a good idea, defragging will not have any affect on whether the uninstallation is clean or not, and it is ridiculous to include it in the steps. No program I have ever heard of requires the system to be defragged in order to uninstall it. If it did, that would be some seriously bad programming on the author's part.

I believe defrag is recommended because it will help prevent future problems when actually using the program to rip/burn. (Or past problems you may have had.)

I just tried uninstalling/re-installing again, after manually cleaning off all folders and files created by the installation, and a manual registry clean of all DVDFab related keys.

The new install still says it's Version 4.0.0.0. Interestingly, when I installed over the old 4.0.8.0 Beta, the version number stayed the same after intalling 4.1.2.0 over it.

So, if installing over an older version the version number in the "About" box stays the same as the previous version you had, and if you do a clean install, it will say 4.0.0.0.

The update.ini file does say 4.1.2.0.

I have had this happen with at least one older 4x version, but Beta 4.0.8.0 had the right version number in the "About" box.

I guess someone has to be a party pooper and ask: Why is this thread a "Read First", but then is allowed to be bogged-down with all manner of "Thanks!" and "Rock & Roll" and and then individuals' problems etc. etc. ad nauseum? How about making it Read Only and letting a Moderator add any comments about the use of the new version that are confirmed issues or tips or... ?

Well, I wouldn't be as harsh about it, but I've wondered about this myself.

Shouldn't the new release threads basically be the announcement regarding the new release, & the comments limited to issues with this particular release & problems in previously releases that it is attempting to fix?

General questions perhaps would be better served in their own thread.

And perhaps there could be a separate "Thank You" thread where folks could express their appreciation to the authors? They really do deserve a lot of praise, but to have a zillion "thank yous" to wade thru makes it difficult for everyone who is trying to keep up with all the latest info particular to each release.

These are just suggestions. I'm a relative newcomer & I really appreciate all the help I have found here! I know you folks have been doing things this way for a long time, but just a hoping you might consider some ideas that might make things a bit easier & more productive for all.

I get a little tired of that myself. I think it goes without saying (especially so much) the appreciation that all of us have for this great program. These new version threads don't have to keep repeating it so much (like 90% of each of these threads). Now the comments about issues and fixes (what is working and what isn't), that's what I go to see. Not a bad idea having threads dedicated to how much thanks people want to give to be free to go nuts with the bow downs and such. Then people don't have to do so much wading through the other threads to find useful info. I also think it would be a really good idea to have a movie section where people can post what movies pose no problem and which do. It would be a nice quick reference for people getting ready to get a certain movie and want to find out what they might be up against.

Hi Fenqtao,
Do you have any update on the Audio time lag which occurs when DVD Fab Platimum converts a DVD to AVI or MPG format ?

Looking through this forum, this seems to be a known bug in your program reported from early 2006, but is still not fixed.

A free program DVDx is able to solve this problem fine.

Can you not ask them for the code to do the same convert ?

I, like many others have given up waiting for the fix in DVD Fab Platimum for this, and have used the free program DVDx.

In recent versions, it has been listed as a fixed problem, but many of us are still having the same issues (movie won't play - loops back to menu), as discussed in this thread, starting at post #45:

Yes, this is a good idea.

A separate movie thread, & a separate appreciation thread.

And posts limited to issues/fixes with the current release.

I love reading the forums, but my job, etc., leave me very little free time - to have to scroll thru several pages for new info, when 90% or more of it is just thank yous, is very frustrating. I for one really haven't kept up as I should as I just don't have the time to go thru all the pages of each new release. Getting rid of the thank yous might actually help cut down on other questions, as folks will be able to find the important stuff they need to know more easily.

How about a vote - no more thank yous in the new release thread? (Even if the mods & adm don't agree, perhaps some of the posters would do it voluntarily?)

(Just asking nicely - please don't throw tomatoes!)

I agree w/Janine about separate thread for specific movie issues. I've been reading the Fab thread for a year+. Seems like there are three topics:
1. Thank you

2. I couldn't find the "any key" and therefore:
-a. It doesn't work
-b. not buying it
-c. not compatibile w/386SX

3. Real problem w/Fab
-a. Copy protection
-b. Incompatiblity w/Shrink, DVD Rebuilder, ImageBurn, Nero, or OS
-c. Specific feature needs work

Fengtao has been very kind by adding features that users want to use,..so he customizes the Software program to fit the users needs (which is outstanding support )
Now some members what to custimize the way threads are used for posting,..

can this version remove BD+ protection? (if not add it's feature (option Remove BD+ check box))

new feature i would like to find Bluray disc (interactive disc and BD-AVC disc and Blu-ray disc) 1:1 clone. (it would help if dvdidle pro (or its High Definition and DVD product sucessor) became HD ready and compatible for High Definition decryption)
