Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

How do I contact someone in the tech area to address the problem I have and I believe others also have with SATA DVD Drives. The program takes almost twice as long to read a commercial DVD movie on a very fast Samsung SATA Drive than it does on a slower Pioneer PATA Drive. I have tried it on several different PC's with always the same result. About the only thing in common was the Samsung SH203B Drive. I have brought this problem up several times and have been told it would be turned over to the tech people. That was many versions ago!! What am I missing? I like the program but have had to relagate it to a system with a PATA DVD Drive.

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

When I install the updated programs, is it ok to just install over the previous copy or am I supposed to completely unistall the previous version 1st?

It is perfectly fine to install over the previous versions.

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

Sad to say.. I still receive the same error as I did on 4.1.1.5 Beta
Still unable to update to 4.1.1.6 because it says I need to update to a newer windows version.

Is anyone else still having troubles with updating running windows ME?

Thanks!
Ron

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

I'm having the same issue in 4.1.1.6 that I reported in the 4.1.1.5 thread:

I have seen a new issue that cropped up in the 4.1.1.0 platinum beta and continues in this (4.1.1.6) platinum beta. I use the "Full Disk" option, and if I check "Copy Non-DVD files", the disk size drop-down box changes itself from "DVD5" to "DVD9" and Quality is some outrageous number like "4% 171891 MB ->8000 MB". I've tried about 10 or 15 different DVD's with the same result.

I tried completely uninstalling and re-installing, but no go. When I "downgrade" to the latest non-beta version, this option works fine.

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

Has anyone else tried 4.1.1.6 on either "Gone Baby Gone" or "No Country for Old Men"? It seemed to work, but when creating a disc with Clone DVD, at the very end of the file creation process, it sad "be sure that all input files are available and that they represent a properly mastered dvd". It could be Clone DVD, but I thought I'd ask. Thanks.

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

Has anyone else tried 4.1.1.6 on "Southland Tales"? I've tried everything I could think of & the same problem pops up while it's ripping to HD.

14:36:46: Analyzing of DVD started
14:36:46: Analyzing of DVD completed successfully
14:36:46: Copy process started
14:37:38: Task_1 failed! Error=102(VTS_01_0.VOB 2048 6144)
14:37:39: Process failed!

It wouldn't work with 4.1.0.2 either before I updated to 4.1.1.6

Error 102 is a read error, I suspect that the DVD has a bad place on it I suggest that you return it to the store and get a new copy.

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

I had tried "I am Legend" with 4.1.0.2 and it wouldn't read the disk. Gave me a message about enabling Pathplayer (even though I had it set to enable Pathplayer when necessary), then when it restarted, still woudn't read it. Popped in this Beta and processed the movie with no issues. Very nice.

Very nice.
Since I posted that, I have found that DVD Shrink by itself will process this movie so it doesn't have anything new related to copy protection. Dunno why 4.1.0.2 had problems with it for me.

Still unable to update to 4.1.1.6 because it says I need to update to a newer windows version.

Is anyone else still having troubles with updating running windows ME?

Thanks!
Ron
With all due respect Ron, but have you considered upgrading your OS? Windows ME was a terrible OS and Microsoft discontinued selling it shortly after it was released. It was (is) a buggy OS that had MAJOR compatibility problems with all kinds of Windows applications.

You will find that Windows XP will run just fine on the hardware platform that Windows ME runs on.

Good luck,

I can't agree more with that comment. Why some are still running ME or 98 is beyond me. No one is that broke. The difference between ME/98 and XP is night and day.

Yes, or at least with MS Windows 98SE, 4.1.1.6 Beta has the same problem as we reported for 4.1.1.0 Beta and 4.1.1.5 Beta.

Oh well, the problem fixed in 4.1.1.6 Beta would seem to have a high priority, and I rather doubt that Fengtao has forgotten our particular problem. Maybe next release?

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

I may be wrong but it was my understanding that when using Visual Studio 2008 that Visual C++ compiled binaries have a minimum requirement of Windows 2000 for the target OS.

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

That is why I made the comment that Win98SE & ME users don't have much time left and cannot expect support for OS's that even Micro$oft no longer supports.

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

On another note, I am hoping that the problem with DVD to iPod will be fixed soon. Again with 4116B, when I encode with 1-Pass at bitrate ~1200 and file size ~1000MB, then I get a less than stellar picture, as expected. So then when I encode w/ same specs with 2-pass, bitrate and file size more than double! So the bitrate is 2700 and file size is 2400MB. This will not play on iPod, as bitrate cannot exceed 2500. I am hoping for a fix soon.

Re: DVDFab 4.1.1.6 Beta is out

Created a custom ISO, no menus, DVD9 of Enchanted.

That played fine.

When I attempted to load this ISO, it looks at it for maybe 10 seconds, and then crashes (with email dialog). But, its not connected to internet, so can't sent.

95/98/Me no good no more. It will be a sad day when 2000 is gone. Next OS upgrade requires new hardware. My PC and OS are both 8 years old. Doesn't seem that long ago.

Just wanted to again thank Fengtao and Ting for these latest round of updates. You guys sure know how to stay on top of it. ~ Mike
