Damn, and I thought I was old school by hanging on to XP. Maybe you should consider jumping up the ladder a bit.

Re: DVDFab 4.0.0.8 Beta

Ok I figured out why I kept crashing. Seems the 4.0.0.8 beta installer somehow disabled DMA mode on my drive and reset it to PIO. Happened after installing 4.0.0.8 on my system. So if your drive is in PIO mode the software will crash everytime.

Now this is a bug because I have check for DMA enabled and the software was not checking to see if it was enabled or not. So install somehow tampered with DMA setting causing drive to go into PIO mode and it is not checking to see if drive is in DMA mode or not.

Does the Reset DMA button fix it?

Except for some video artifacts left behind on my monitor screen after I
exit from the program, Ver 4008 Beta works fine on my old 98SE machine.

Re: DVDFab 4.0.0.8 Beta

I am seeing an old problem reappear in 4.0.0.8 Beta. I have set the options to default to DVD9 however when I insert a DVD is switches back to DVD5 when doing full disk copy to hard drive. When I 1st start DVDFab Platinum it is showing Quality as N/A and when I insert a DVD in then it shows up as DVD5. Depending upon the DVD it will show something like 69% instead of 100%.

Other than that it has worked great so far for me.

Re: DVDFab 4.0.0.8 Beta; Ratatouille & Final version?

I bought and have been using DVDFab Platinum for over a year now. EXCELLENT program! Like the new interface for the new 4.x beta versions (what's with the monkey logo?) and the new features that keep being added on!

I also wanted to post a problem with Ratatouille and ask if anyone else has encountered this problem? I tried copying it in "Customize" mode (to get rid of the annoying trailers and such that play before the main menu) so I can keep the menu, main movie and SF's. Anyway, while I was checking the titles I wanted to keep, after I got down the list, DVDFab would freeze up for a few seconds and the drive I had the DVD movie in would disappear from the drive list (in both DVDFab and Explorer) as well as the titles list I had checkmarked. I would have to go into Device Manager and "Scan for Hardware Changes" in the DVD/CD Drives device list to get it back up. I use a Sony DRU-800A (EIDE) mainly for reading discs and a Samsung SH-S183L (SATA) mainly for burning. It kept doing this everytime I tried to customize, so I switched and put Ratatouille into the Samsung drive. It would allow me to continue so I both read and burned using the Samsung SATA drive. The "customized" Ratatouille disc plays just fine! This being a new issue that I've never experienced with DVDFab before and I want to go completely SATA with my drives anyway; I'm thinking of getting a Samsung SH-S203N to replace the Sony completely and use for burning. Has anyone ever experienced this phenomenon? Does the SATA/EIDE combination make a difference?

Also, when is the Beta version of 4.x going to become the new version? I realize that the beta version has to be tested thoroughly to get as many bugs out as possible, but I'm just anxious for the final version!

Thanks for the beta. When the final version is released, will I need to pay for an upgrade fee? Tell me the good news...

Here's your good news.
When you purchased the product, that's it. The initial purchase is good for the lifetime of the product. Fengtao doesn't charge for updates or for upgrades within the same product line.
For eg., I purchased platinum in 2004 and have never been charged another fee. When Fengtao dropped platinum 2.xxx and upgraded the product to Fab 3, he just issued me a new license #...no charge.
Just so there's no confusion, there is a charge if you choose to upgrade product lines, ie., going from gold to platinum, but never from gold to gold or platinum to platinum...

Re: DVDFab 4.0.0.8 Beta

hello all. i love the new 4.0.0.8. the look is awesome. not sure if this has anything to do with it or not though but i recently tried just DVD Decrypter on Blades Of Glory and it started acting up so i used the new Fab Decrypter on it and after the .iso was made it made a Volume Lock error. i clicked ignore and it worked fine but i hope this is not a bug in the program. regardless i still love it. By the way i haven't done it yet,but if i choose to remove FBI warnings,i can still manuever through chapters and what not right? just curious.

Yes, you can. The new feature works great even on a Sony disc (where the FBI and Interpol warnings run after you hit PLAY MOVIE on the menu). Flawless. Really gave it a workout today in Customize and Full Disc.

Re: DVDFab 4.0.0.8 Beta

Ok because i know sometimes the FBI warnings disable chapter search and stuff. so it'll be easier to manuever now. Anyway about my Volume Lock question, have you or anyone on this board experienced Volume Locks? just curious on what i should do.

Re: DVDFab 4.0.0.8 Beta

Just tried this beta 4.0.0.8 and still get CRASH REPORT when trying to make an AVI file using DVD 2 Mobile feature. It does not matter what movie I try, I get the crash report right after I click the Start Button. I Uninstalled 4.0.0.8 and re-installed DVDFab Platinum 3.1.8.0 and DVD 2 Mobile works in the older version.
Thanks,
SWB048

Re: DVDFab 4.0.0.8 Beta

Bug report for the Nag removal/Start At Menu features in this beta:

For the Movie 300 (Widescreen 1-disc edition) I did a Full Disc copy to the HD with PathFinder enabled and selected "Remove Nag Screens" and "Start at First Menu". The movie ripped without error. When started from the HD it jumps directly to the menu (skipping even the quick pre-interactive menu animation) but when you select "Play Movie", the playback abruptly. If you select Scene Selection and then choose Chapter 1, the move starts.

When played from disc, the MPAA rating is show when Play Movie is selected prior to playing the movie, I'm guessing that this nag title was removed, but in the process the link to play movie from the menu was broken.

I haven't tried this with the 4.0.0.10 release, but I will install and try it now.

Re: DVDFab 4.0.0.8 Beta

For batch processing Fengtao suggested ripping your disks to the HDD then adding the ripped files to DVDFab so it can be left running overnight.

Can i get some help with the details on this please?
