Error 400

Hi Fengtao,
Trying to make a backup of a Spongebob Squarepants DVD for the kids. It's Disc#2 of 3 of the complete first season. It gets about 94% done, and I get the error. This is with the latest 3.0.3.5

Task_1 failed! Error=400(100 0 42 160)

Thanks, and Peace!

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

Hi CaptSlapNut,

Please send us all the .IFO files on Original disc, then we will check the problem.

A recommended way is listed below:
1) Open an Explorer window, and navigate to VIDEO_TS folder of the DVD.
2) Copy all files ending with .IFO to hard disk.
3) ZIP the IFO files on hard disk to one file. Name it with a readable filename, like Stealth_UK.zip.
4) Send the zip file to fengtao(at)dvdidle.com, you need replace (at) with @.

Best Regards,
Fengtao

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

It sound like the same problam I'm having with Arto School Confidential. First couple of rounds, I get a the 400, then the 116. Would you like a set if IFO's from me too? Or are you well occupied already?

What movie are you trying to copy? Try "Main Movie" instead of full disc and post back here with your results.

The error log you posted was from the burning engine, and this process never got that far. See if you have a log file titled DVDFab_Event.log and if so, post that.

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

Using the "Main Movie" instead did the trick. I have updated the firmware for the DVD drive and then did another attempt on a Full Disc copy but that did not help. I am trying to copy Matador. The content of the log file "dvdfab_burn_vso_crash.log" is

Glad to hear you got your copy made. Error 400 has been attributed to everything from a bad or damaged original disc to burner firmware. Seems it also can occur when a disc has a new form of protection that Fab can't handle without an update. I don't see how the burner or firmware could cause a problem so early in the process. If you are happy with just a Main Movie copy, you are fine. If not, copy the IFO files from the original disc and email them to fengtao at dvdidle.com, replacing "at" with @, along with a brief explanation of what was happening when the failure occurred. Are you clicking "FINISH" when the copy job is done? Some new users just click on the red X to close the app, and you have to click FINISH to delete the temp files and let DVDFab clean up and exit gracefully.

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

I just upgraded my trial version [with 20 days left no less because I was so impressed with the program] of DVD fab platinum at a cost of 65 dollars only to have it stop working, the trial version worked fine.

I backed up miami vice with the trial version, tried again with the paid version [within a few hours of eachother] and now I get the 400 error message: I get this with any movie I own that I have tried to back up with my paid version.
This occurs in all copy modes IE main movie, clone etc.
I changed media and movies.

There's a "400" error every time.

the screen shot exceeds your upload allowances.

Honestly, I am going to have to call VISA and get my charges revoked.

Give us a chance to help before you give up! I believe this error means that the program could not find or use the indicated file in the cgp folder. Also, where did you buy and download from? Try downloading from here if you got it elsewhere. Also, the current price is US$49.95. You have made a good software choice. The forum and Fengtao will help you make it work.

EDIT: There is no trial version, only a trial period. If you still have the original version that you installed for the 30-day trial and it worked, you could try reinstalling and registering that version with your key.

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

Thanks, sorry if I got a bit annoyed.

65 Canadian BTW lol.

I first used the "key" to install or I guess more correctly to activate the trial "period".

I tried that again and the same error occured.

I then used the .exe from the other page that I was given, I don't know if I should post the page or not as I believe it said it would be active for a bit more and I'm unsure if this would open you up to a few unpaid DL's or not.

The re-install using the .exe seems to have taken care of the "400" error message problem but;

Now I am back to having the "hang" at 75 % completion that has been talked about elsewhere here. Even had that horrid grinding sound rom my drive.

Yes, I know that the program is great, I thoroughly researched and used your products over the past hence why I decided to purchase your program.
That's why I am sure whatever is causing the hang will bew worked out soon.

Thanks for your timely reply.

No problem, we all get frustrated with software. Let me correct the misimpression that I am somehow connected with DVDFab or its authors/vendors as more than a satisfied user--NOT the case. Just another happy burner .
I have not experienced the symptoms you describe but I know others have, and I'm sure Fengtao and his staff, who read these threads almost daily, are working on a solution. My system just seems to hang a little longer than it used to after the "Successful Completion" box pops up, and after clicking finish. May be related to the VSO burning engine phoning home to report burn stats to their anonymous database. I always burn with internet disconnected and AV software disabled. Discs eject fine and the copies play perfectly, so this is not a universal problem. I'll try a burn later with internet and antivirus enabled and see what happens.

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

I am also having major problems with my newly purchased DVDFabPlatinum I paid 49.95 and it will not work properly at all.I am not very happy with this software at all. I tried to backup The Descent (A LionsGate film),Fox and Hound2(Disneyfilm),and several others and had to go back to my free version because the paid one does not work.I keep getting Task Failed error messages. The only movie I havebeen able to backup is Attack Force by sony pictures, now what is wrong with this picture? If something isn't done or fixed I am also going to contact my creditcard company for mymoney back.

Hello Becky. Since you are new to the forum, let me point out that when you post here you are addressing not the company that made it nor the website where you bought it but just regular users of the software. People here will be glad to help you as others helped them get started, but threats and invective are out of place. What version of Platinum do you have? Where did you download "paid" version? What error codes are displayed? Post a little more information so that someone reading the post can see if they have had the same problem.

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

I downloaded from there website www.dvdfab.com I have the newest version 3.0.5.0
I am sorry I was not posting a threat just a statement I have contacted them sent 4 support emails and have yet to hear a word from anyone at the company.I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software and nothing changed. It is just so frustrating when you pay out for something in good faith and get faulty programs and then no one will return or reply to an email.I paid for service and am not getting it, supposed to get lifetime updates and unlimited email support.I have had to resort back to using the DVD Fab express Free version to do most of my backups lately. I am not new to this only new to this forum. I have been using DVDFab and Vob and Pgedit DVDShrink DVDDecryptor and other programs for along time.I came in here because it is in there website for support you can visit this forum and I was under the understanding that the company does come in and read the posts here.I figured since they don't answer my support emails I would post and hopefully get there attention.
This is the error message I get everytime
Task_1 Failed! Error=300
Process failed

If anyone has any suggestions that I have not tried I am all ears.

I have several suggestions, but the best is probably for you to re-download from this link. The error you are getting means that there are corrupt or missing files in your install. You should be logged in to Windows with admin priveledges before you install.

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

Solid advice from signals...as always.
Just an FYI, sometimes it's necessary to run a registry cleaner subsequent to uninstalls. Sounds like you know your way around pc's and software, but if you need a safe, reliable cleaner:
Regseeker is a good choice.

Let us know what happens.

I have also purchased dvdfab. I am also new to this forum.
I did not make this purchase lightly, as I have used previous versions of Fab (loved them) and many, if not most, rip and burn software ever made. The $50 means alot to me.
I also cannot make proper copies without some error or another. (Too pissed off to list errors at the moment). I even went so far as to make a clean install of Windows Xp on a spare machine with all updates and Fab 3.050, still have errors.
SOFTWARE IS FLAWED AT THIS MOMENT> NEED FIX!!!
I will not threaten but... hopefully fengtao is listening.
I will be happy to provide details tomorrow, not today, too mind blown at this point.

Sorry you're having trouble. Two things you can count on: Fengtao is listening and alan1476 is watching. Have you tried the 3.0.5.1 beta download? Lots of folks seem to be getting the missing/corrupt CGP file error when using the 3.0.5.0 download package. Make sure you are an admin priveledged user when installing.

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

Have not installed 3.0.5.1. Will try tomorrow. Counting on replies to errors, somethings amiss with this program at the moment.

From my many years working on computers I believe we are looking at a minor bug fix, but it's causing Fab to be almost unusable.

I am running 3.0.5.1 on a HP zd8000 series notebook with no problems. Hope it will work for you too. Your patience is appreciated.

Re: DVDFab 3 error codes list

I am using the the version I was directed to when DVDfab express was no longer being updated and they were sending the link to upgrade when you opened up the program.I don't think it is Beta version.I am the the admin of my computer if thats what you meant. There is no one else using it.So thats not the problem.
