For Your Info: You guys are fortunate to get speeds up to 50-60 fps with the new DVD FAB versions. I was getting 45-50 fps but since installing updates going back several weeks ago I'm lucky to get anywhere from 15-25 fps. Incidentally, I've tried the DMA fix to no avail. The conversion speed remains the same whether converting either directly from a DVD or hard drive. I'm converting using PVP for a Creative Vision W media player.

That aside DVD FAB is by far still the best program on the market.

I can't burn a thing!!!!

I can only express in words the GREAT LEVEL OF FRUSTRATION I am experiencing.

I spent HOURS choosing titles from about 15 DVD's. I created ISO files and then merged them onto the Hard Drive into VOB's. I CANNOT burn a DVD now!!!

I have tried everything... RESET DMA, Changed writing type to SAO and Packet, Use Full Disc mode, Write Data Mode all with no success.

I keep getting TWO error messages:

Media inserted in drive F: is double layer, but the output only need single layer media. Do you want to continue writing?

I then select 'YES'

NEXT error message 'Failed to burn DVD. Do you want to burn again?' I select 'YES'.

NEXT error message 'No media detected in drive F:. Please insert a compatible media to start the write process'. This message LOOPS FOREVER if I keep selecting OK.

I keep doing this OVER AND OVER AND OVER it is very very annoying and I don't know what to do. I have all these files on my HDD and can't burn them.

I have tried 2 different Verbatim DVD+R DL discs (in case one was bad) and today purchased Fuji DVD+R DL. I have tried burning onto my external write (Samsung SE-184M) and Internal laptop DL writer... the software doesn't even start to work on the files before an error message is received. I was told today to 'wait till the next version'.

Does anyone have any advice please?

Thanks!

Try using Imgburn in build mode then burn

Re: DVDFab 3.2.1.0 is out

Bug in latest version when running from command line. The window that says it can't read the disc always pops open.

This does not happen when inserting a DVD with DVDfab open...only when firing up from a command line.

Not sure which version this started in but I had to convert back to 3.2.0.0 to be able to use it again from a command line.

Please make this "feedback" pop up an option inside DVDFab to potentially solve this problem.

Please fix this. Thanks

Thanks TGIDDAY. I downloaded and actually managed to burn a DVD with ImgBurn.

However, when playing back the DVD in my DVD Player (Pioneer DVR), the same thing happens with a single-layer disc I burned using DVDFab. The player does something weird and it 'cycles through' what appears to be various chapters before playing the next title. For example, I load the DVD in the player and press 'play'. The first title starts to play.

I then select the >> button to play the next title and the DVD player reads through various chapters (the numbers are changing on the display) and it cycles like this for about 30 seconds before it plays the next title. Any idea what is causing this?

Thanks!

I had this same problem. It was fixed by uninstalling DVDFab and deleting any left over folders. I then reinstalled the latest version and no longer get that message.

Hi tgidday,

I have downloaded Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum. I pointed it to my Video_TS folder created by DVDFab and I just noticed something.

DVDFab created 19 CHAPTERS for **EACH TITLE**.

I believe (if memory serves me as this has been a few days now) what I did was use the CUSTOMIZE feature to extract individual titles (chapters) from my source DVD's. For example, I used the Chapter Start and Chapter End in the Advanced Title Setting dialog in DVDFab. I chose ISO as the output for all files.

After I got all my ISO files in a folder, I used the MERGE feature to output to a DVD Folder. This has all the VOB files, etc.

As you know, Imgburn managed to burn the DVD but when I played it, my player kept cycling through chapter after chapter before it would play a scene. When I select the 'Next Chapter' button on my player, it keeps cycling for about 30 seconds until it lands on the chapter.

Tonight I used Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum (Trial) and pointed it to my Video_TS folder. It loaded all the titles, and each title has **19 chapters** (every single one). Only the FIRST chapter (Chapter 1) has the video while Chapters 2-19 all show 00:00:00 (as there is no content). This is why I believe the player is 'cycling'.. but rather it is reading each chapter (with no video) sequentially until it reaches the next title with content.

What would cause this? I either messed something up royally or DVDFab should not be used to extract chapters from titles the way I did?

I just purchased Xilisoft DVD Ripper Platinum. I am thinking of extracting all the chapters with content to AVI files.. then I don't know what to do. VOB is not an output option so I may have to purchase the Xilisoft DVD Creator as well to use all the AVI's and make a DVD.

Thank you.

Re: DVDFab 3.2.1.0 is out

I think you missed something using Fab in customize mode-did you set the chapters in advanced title settings? If not that was the problem.
Edit: just saw you used advanced title settings you sure you set them right?
Maybe Signals will weigh in on this
Edit2VDFab makes the same default title selections in Merge that it does in Main Movie, so be sure to UNcheck that title if you don’t want it.

Re: DVDFab 3.2.1.0 is out

Hi Fengtao, its rob one again, 3.2.1.0. looks a great package, but i have a prob with Sider-Man 3,R2 UK. Copies to hard drive fine, but when i burn the movie only on to disc, it will not open open on the 3 DVD players I have tried. If I jump forward a track, and then rewind to nearly the start it will play the movie fine.
it plays through on the computer from the start fine. This is the only disc i have had any trouble with in over a year. DVDFAB Plat is fantastic, could it be Sony Aarccos has upgraded?

Re: DVDFab 3.2.1.0 is out

@rico_yvr & tgidday

Hi "J" and Rico
Merge and Customize treat chapters differently. If you want to extract individual chapters or groups of chapters, Merge will work better. Just reload the same Source (using the folder or ISO icons, not the drop down) and select the different chapters or chapter groups each time. This will produce a DVD folder with a titleset for each chapter and each titleset will be in a single VOB. If you load the Merged output to make a DVD to Mobile conversion, DVDFab will make a single AVI for each chapter. (This is the way it worked the last time I tried this with a concert DVD). If this doesn't answer your question, start a new thread--too hard to find questions and answers in a release notes thread.

/EDIT/ Here is a link to a post about splitting episodes from a DVD that works the same way. It has a screen showing Merge mode set up to extract the first 4 chapters of a movie individually.

that IS how it works - it was discussed here a few weeks ago. FAB leaves the list of chapters in the IFO file but removes the video content which is why you now see zero durations, and is also the reason that your stand-alone player is cycling. all versions of FAB work in the same way AFAIK

PS I've tried DVD creaor & don't rate it - it is very slow & for me the output woudl not work in my stand-alone player, only on my PC.

try starting a new thread & outlining what you are trying to do, then maybe you'll get some useful guidelines.

Re: DVDFab 3.2.1.0 is out

Hello Fengtao
Want to thank you for making the modifications to the "Pathfinder"
I was having trouble making a backup copy of a DVD that was done
by a small company that makes DVDs from VCR tapes(not sure on that)
anyway was only having a problem with 1 disc out of 8, I installed the
3210 version and had a problem at first then Pathfinder kicked in and got
the job done took longer then normal which is OK by me
Thanks again for the improvement

Re: DVDFab 3.2.1.0 is out

Hi Fengtao and all. Just want to say thanks for another excellent upgrade.

I also got the error message saying that the media in the drive was dual layer and only single layer was required. I knew better, so I selected to burn anyway, using Nero and it worked just fine.

I am using Vista Ultimate. Dunno if that helps. I simply upgraded over apreviously installed version, but this particular issue didn't occur until the second dual layer burn using 3.2.1.0.

Pretty weird, but overall, I'm ecstatic about the proggie! Thanks again!

I am also getting the '...Media in Drive D: is double layer, but the output only need single layer media.' Started with Platinum 3.2.1.0...can go ahead and burn anyway using vso or Nero, and all appears to work ok. When reverting back to 3.1.8.0 the problem is gone. I have tried reinstalling 3.2.1.0 after cleaning system per StormJumper, regseeker.

I am also getting another issue with 3.2.1.0 that may be related, when DVDFab checks the target drive to see if it has the appropriate media inserted. The system I use to burn DVDs has two opticals, D: is the target burn drive, and O: is the source reader. BTW, XP Pro, SP2, Lite-Ons, latest firmware, clean system - no junk running. I always insert the source disk and target blank (Verbatim) DVD9/5 before launching DVDFab. The application remembers the source and analyzes the inserted DVD. I can click on any of the various modes, i.e. Full, Main, Split, Customize ok. But if I click on Clone mode 3.2.1.0 will analyze the blank media and report 'The DVD on D:\ [] is a data disc. You can choose "Clone" to copy it.' It then makes the target drive also the source drive; this requires reselecting the source, i.e. Drive O:. This isn't a big deal, but is unique to 3.2.x.x. (saw it in the 3.2 betas also). This doesn't happen with 3.1.8.0. This may be related to the confusion 'Media in Drive D: is double layer, but ....' mentioned above.

This issue also occurs when a blank is inserted into the target drive after 3.2.1.0 is launched, not just when inserted prior to starting the app.

Many thanks to Fengtao & Co. for all the great work.

Re: DVDFab 3.2.1.0 is out

Mr. fengtao:

Just like to report a glitch with DVDFab vers. 3.2.1.0, that being trying to burn a DVD-9 movie onto a DVD-9 (DVD+R DL) and window pops up "You are trying to burn onto a double-layer when only a single-layer is required. Do you wish to continue?". Also, Buena Vista Home Video has a new form of protection, as found in "The Invisible, R1". I will try to track down error report and email to you directly and the technical specs of the computer system it was tried on, concerning these two issues. Will try help from now on.

Good luck,

mustang5

P.S. Will check back later for response.

Re: DVDFab 3.2.1.0 is out

Maybe the movie is short enough to fit on a DVD-5 so thats why it's telling you that, The movie is only 102 minutes long, did you try to burn on a SL ?
Also the The Invisible R1 burned just fine with ver.3.2.1.0 doesn't seem like any new protection
