- New: Parse both UDF and ISO9660 file system, and choose the correct one to read DVD.

Note: The new protection uses wrong file system, so it cannot be played on some DVD players, but backup disc can be played for sure.
- New: Added "Chapter Range" feature in "Main Movie" and "Customize".
- New: Added "Advanced Title Settings" window to set "Title Playback Order" and "Chapter Range".
- New: Updated language files.
- Fix: A crash problem when opening PAL DVD in certain cases.
- Fix: Error 400 when copying DVD in certain cases.
- Fix: Several minor problems.

Still having the same problem:

Just in case Fengtao is planning on telling me to try the new version - this is the new version.

What is Y:\[SKU_687384]? Also click on "?" the About to make sure the program updated. Also try using Z as both source and target.to see if you get the error.

srhb: you should really try not to blame fengtao, as I have never experienced burning problems before.
Only thing I had problems with is that the first version (3.0.1.0) did not have the 'remove layer break' option, which ended up in some faulty copies.
U should try this on another comp, for example at a friend or family and see if they have this error too.
It could be the media (Memorex) or the burner itself for that matter. Did you already try it with Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media? Also what burner do you own?

srhb: Ditto - Your Source and Target Drive Labels are, well, different. Are you sure both Drives are operating in DMA Mode? If they are, are you sure they both have 80-Wire, 40-Pin cables? If they do, have you turned the System off for a few minutes to allow the Interfaces to Re-Set? If you do any Testing with tools like cdspeed2000, a number of the tests, like the Burn Test mess up the Interface for Reading...You have to turn the System off to Re-Set...

I don't have a problem burning from one optical drive to another either with 3.0.2.5.

The suggestions above sound like a good starting point.

bigmacnc: Y and Z are my DVD Drives - Z being the burner and Y just a DVD ROM. The reason I named them Y and Z is to avoid the constant changing of drive letters whenever I insert a memory stick or card. This way - Y and Z always remain the same and the "removable drives" can flip flop around. SKU_687384 is just the DVD I'm trying to backup. I tried "The Godfather III" thereafter - with the same result. (it shows up as Y:\GODFATHER - so the drive is reading correctly; I can also watch anything on that drive without any problems). Using Z as the source and target yields the same result.
motorcycle: I appreciate your comments. However I only blame Fengtao because of certain factors: 1. No problem with DVDFab Express 2. Problems with DVDFab Gold on this computer as well as another with a fresh clean installation of Windows 3. I've experienced problems with Fengtao's software about a year ago, where everyone on the forum including them insinuated that it was either my computer or my lack of ability to use it - they were wrong and Fengtao eventually came up with a fix that worked - after 6 months of arguing 4. I've uninstalled Gold and re-installed Express and it worked 5. Other programs work flawlessly i.e. DVDShrink 6. Both drives read without problems (can watch any movie) 7. Fengtao's responses to me appear as if they are "canned" responses i.e. they ask for burn logs - when I specifically told them that the error occurs before the burning process - then they ask for the VOB and IFO files when I specifically told them that this happens with EVERY DVD thus making such files irrelevant - then they ask me to re-install the program which is nonsense (remember the clean installation on a clean freshly installed OS) - then they ask me to install the beta - etc..... etc..... etc....... 8. I have sent them ALL of the relevant information including the irrelevant IFO files only to have them send me a private message on this forum telling me that they cannot help me if I don't respond. 9. I have sent them ALL relevant information again and again (just like a year ago) only to have them ask me to download the program again. I really don't know why their program keeps failing but I'm convinced that it is the program. Yes it works on some other peoples computers, which may indicate that there may be some incompatibilities with certain hardware such as certain AntiVirus programs do not support 64bit CPU's while others do. Then again, The Express version worked on the very same computer Gold is failing on.

Since your problem always occurrs at VTS_03_1.VOB, I think it's a DVD strucutre error, and should not be a protection. I have sent you e-mail about our FTP server information, please upload VTS_03_1.VOB then I'll find where the problem is, thanks.

Also, I suggest you try some other Hollywood movie to see the result.

BTW:
1) I cannot find your order with your e-mail address in our database.
2) Who say our products don't support 64bit Windows?

In post #7 you make reference to the setting...'Remove Layer Break'. Could you briefly explain to me the rationale of this setting? I've been around this a good while and understand SL and DL disks, but I'm not sure here why I'd want to remove the LB. Perhaps this only applies when in the Full Movie mode and copying from a DL and compressing to a SL; or does this somehow also apply in the Clone mode? Can't see how.

No you did not miss it, at this time there is no tutorial. Fengtao has been real busy doing updates and adding new features. I am sue there will be one soon, but program is simple to use and most users don't read them posting problems here.

Clone copies the DVD with original layer break.

Maine movie only is not affected.

Customize is an advanced feature and the ones who use it know how to work around it if they plan to do a DL disc.

Full disc can be used to compress DL to SL disc or use other tools to create the LB.

A LB is not needed in split the disc.

If I understand well, you mean it is not needed to remove the layer break?
Because I always have that option on, and always had succesful results when removing the layer break.

I like your idea of using Y & Z for drives as I use a pin drive to transfer files between computers and it changes the drive letters.

motorcycle: It's not the media as it happens before the media is even written. By way of info only - I'm using Verbatim. It's also not the burner for the same reason as the aforementioned. FYI - I've tried both Sony and Memorex burners.
jfagnani: Of course they are in DMA mode. As for the source and Target drives, yes I have 2 drives, as I've always had - simply so I don't have to sit there waiting to remove the source disk and insert the target disc which people have to do if they only have a single drive. The wires are correct as well. DVD Drives do not require 80 pin cables but are backwards compatible.
bigmacnc: I read the thread and it is not relevant; thanks though. Actually drive letters are usually not an issue with the exception of some applications, especially older ones that automatically seek out the "C" drive without an option to change the path on istallation. I've tested this numerous times and found that most applications really don't care where they are installed - i.e. I've installed things on "K" being the main drive and "C" being the optical drive. It works and is really not an issue.

Fengtao: I just PM'd you the info about my e-mail address and order. Also, I never said anything about 64bit Windows. I was refering to 64 bit hardware and certaing security software. Furthermore, you did not respond about my 3 messages regarding the ftp upload.

Of course, it's pretty easy to get rid of these annoying still images with DVD Shrink in Re-author mode (Set start/end frames), but why not asking user if he first want to do so?...

I must say that my little 3 chapters selection (lenght: 0:12:22) PLUS 25 useless Cells/Programs/Chapters (lenght: 0:00:15) was not even playing in the preview window of DVDFab Decrypter.
Even worst, when I've tried to analyze this NEW "DVD-Video" in PGCEdit, its preview player was choking and seems to me that it was having hard time to figure out how to handle these IFO's/VOB's.
So it's a bad sign, a truly bad one. You would assume that I never burned these files for testing on a DVD player, 'cause I already knew the answer...

Please note that ALL 25 "still" were even EACH assigned a separate Program/Chapter/Cell 1,2 and 6-28, but at the same time pointing at the same VID 1 / Cell 1 and that the 3 meaningful chapters were pointing at VID 2 / Cell(s) 3,4 and 5. Never mind, after "cleaning-up" with DVD Shrink I did get as I was expecting VID 1 / Cell(s) 1,2 and 3 as it MUST be.
I'm really sorry but it seems a little bit messed up, just need to be ironed out I think. I hope that it could have been of any help.


PDCInterfaces

Cannot get preview to work in Platinum 3.0.2.5. Preview window resizes to match aspect ratio of selected title but will not play video. Tried with two different discs. Anybody else having this problem?

Make sure you have it checked in the settings.

I did not UNcheck it when I made any of the other upgrades or this one but I will check it. thanks...

Do you refer to the "Show Preview Window Automatically" check box? I have never checked that in any of the V3 betas, always just opened it manually for brief previews if needed. Checking the box produces same result: preview window resizes and I can hear the drive spin up and move to the selected title, but no video. ?
