DVD Region+CSS Free What is the downside Hello all, A quick question I have always used DVDFab and Recode when copying a movie which I guess takes a little time but so far has always worked for me. I was thinking about buying DVD Region+CSS Free where as I understand it I would be able to just use Recode to copy the movie with the protection being stripped in the background by the above mentioned program. The question I have is has anybody had any problems with copying disc this way I guess after copying the way I have in the past and having it work for me I want to get some expert opinions before I change Thanks

Re: DVD Region+CSS Free What is the downside Sorry, but I've never used region free...but it should work ok, as you've described. I too, have always found recode2 to be very slow although it works just fine. Not to tell you how to spend your $ but, why not just buy platinum. Express is fast and does a great job...main movie or complete disc. Gold works ok too, but at times takes a little more configuring. Fengtao is also working on a big upgrade and this should improve the products substantially, but hey, it works great now. Anyway, that's my 2 cents...not really what you asked but I'd recommend the free 30 day trial of platinum...my bet is that you'll keep it. Hope this helps, Tom

Re: DVD Region+CSS Free What is the downside Am I missing something? Why would you need recode with dvdfab, or is this a verison that doesn't compress. Also, Fab in any form includes the removal feature set of region free/css, right? Bottom line, ditto on Maineman's 2 pennies, Platinum a good investment if you can swing!

Steve, you're looking at $39.95 for region free or express alone anyway...do the free trial platinum, you won't be sorry. | |

Re: DVD Region+CSS Free What is the downside Maineman & Larry thanks for the advice. I was under the impression that DVDFab Platinum in the express mode was not giving as good quality as Recode was but after downloading the trial version and doing a bit of testing I found on most instances DVDFab put out a better quality product then recode was. Easy solution I will purchase DVDFAB Platinum seems like a very good product. Cheers
