DVD imaging

I tried to rip a DVD image with DVDFab Gold, but it only seems to let me copy the DVD to a blank one. I tried telling it to put an image as an output but it still asks me to insert blank media once it's done.

Re: DVD imaging

Hi Pezman,

I think this is just a navigation issue in the application...it's confusing and the fault rests with gold and not the user.

Anyway, it's been a while since I used gold, but I seem to recall you having to create a new folder prior to running the application...this is the case, both with creating a "folder" or "image". So create a new folder ...wherever...on your hd, then open gold and under "select output method" and either "dvd folder" or "dvd image", select the folder you just created. I know this is silly, but it worked for me and nothing else seemed to...I always chose "dvd folder" when creating a file, but both options should work the same way.

Hope this helps,

Tom

Re: DVD imaging

As I understand you just want to save it to hard drive. The wizard will choose the source (DVD) and to copy to a temp file. At this point create a folder that has name of movie example C:\DVD\name, then Fab will make it C:\DVD\name\DVD and this is where you want to save. Make sure the delete when through is not on. Under the last \DVD\ there will be two more folder created by Gold but you do not have to worry about them. Choose your burner in the third chioce which is target. When it asks for a DVD close gold. When you go to play or do something to the movie you will find it at C:\DVD\name\DVD and do not worry about the 2 sub folders unless you want to edit. It has been awhilw since I did this so let me know if you need to know more. There is a good tutorial at the product page for Gold which is still working. dvdidle.com and select products the goal, more info. I am at work for about 7 more hrs but if needed when I get home I will get better instructions.

Re: DVD imaging

I just ripped a DVD to HD and you need to change the name of temp file.

Re: DVD imaging

I just tried making an image file too. For some reason dvdfab created a series of iso files:
Disc1.iso_0
Disc1.iso_1
Disc1.iso_2
Disc1.iso_3
Disc1.iso_4

I have no idea why it did this, anyone know why?

I told dvdfab to create an image in a temp folder that I created on my d: (data) drive, that's where the pseudo iso files were placed. But I didn't have the problem that the original poster had.

Re: DVD imaging

I'm not sure about this as thought it was suppose to just create one ISO file to be burned with another burning program. I was telling the other person how to put it on the HD to play on computer DVD Player.
