DVD file will not copy to disk

I just ran into the problem that my DVDFab program will copy a movie to the temp drive but then fails to copy to the blank DVD, I have been using the program for months. I even tried to copy with Nero and it does the same thing. I tried to copy to two different DVD burners with no luck. Any ideas what is going on. I can watch the hard drive recorded movie on my computer.
Thanks, jdmonk2000

Re: DVD file will not copy to disk

Hi jdmonk2000 amd welcome to cdfreaks.
What happens?
Do you get a specific error?...eg., failed to intialize burn engine?...insert compatible media?
Is there an error code?

Re: DVD file will not copy to disk

More details would be helpful to anyone who want to help you.

Being that the same(?) thing happens with Nero, I doubt that it's a problem with DVDFab. Since the same(?) thing happens with two different burners, it seems unlikely (but possible) that it's a problem with the burners. So I expect an MS Windows problem.

Try installing and reinstalling the drives; first try removing the devices using device manager, then restarting MS Windows so that it installs the drivers again. If that doesn't work, maybe use device manager to remove the devices again, power down your PC, physically unplug the cables, power it up and back down again, plug the cables back in, and power it up again.

Please let us know of any success or failure you have in fixing your problem; that may help someone else.

Regards,
James

Media could be another possibility.

Good point. Not knowing any better, my first attempts to write DLs were with a spindle of Memorexes. For about a third of them, the drive wouldn't even recognize that they were inserted, and for about another third, I had either burning errors or playback problems, so those "cheap" discs ended up costing about three times as much per satisfactory burn as I expected.

I now use Verbatim blanks, and haven't run into a problem with them yet.

James

I've got some DLs like that (not Verbatim, those work ). Only one of my drives will burn them half decent, and one drive will only support them at 4x (they're 8x discs), and won't even start a burn.

I keep the Verbs for best, and the Ritek-coded ones for testing purposes.
